I was walking behind the linesman when he got hit by ball.
Hilarious, he just dropped. I gave him a bit of friendly advice telling him to get up etc.

Glad to get a point, nice day out. Lost my phone

So a 6/10 day

Russel sounds like my double, my first game along with the Barrow AFC Supporters (Southampton Branch) and will get to Eastleigh and Aldershot.
A good summary of the game, Barrow showed some good skills now and then, but seemed to lack any midfield support for our forwards.
Probably a fair result in the end. Onwards and upwards from now on.

I have to say that if that is an entertaining game then I'm very glad I haven't seen any of the non-entertaining games!
Both sides were as bad with the ball merely being hoofed from one end to the other most of the time.
Barrow's main problem was obvious immediately in that they have a non-existent midfield.
Cowperthwaite, before his injury, and Parry may as well have been sitting on the bench for what they did. Mellor looks as though he has a bit of ability but is vastly overweight and slow. Grimes looks to have ability but does little to help either Cook or the defence. Dixon could do nothing with either goal and made one very good save in the second half. NWA looks a very decent footballer and the 2 central defenders coped pretty well with Woking's poor attacking efforts. The Woking left winger could beat Symington every time he was given the ball but, luckily, they weren't bright enough to give him the ball very often. Cook was outstanding IMO winning virtually every ball that was hoofed up to him (and there were a lot). Unfortunately there was never anybody near enough to him to provide any help and all he could do was pass the ball backwards. Pilkington was another who looked to have ability but, again, doesn't seem to put in too much effort. Unlike Jordan Williams he very rarely tracked back and almost every bit of danger from Woking came from their left side. Jordan Williams does track back and defends pretty well but as an attacker faded away after a promising start.
And there weren't any video replays either.

Spot on with that report Russell. We were on top in the first half and the Cards were on top in the second half.
Their No 11 Goddard had Symo well tied up and they failed to exploit his vulnerability.
too much 'hoof ball' in the second half, from both sides. Following on from the Welling match, Cookey won just about every ball played into him.
overall a point against a 'play off contender' is the plus (and the point)
Hope Cowps is ok, because it didn't look good from the high stand.
good turnout of blue and white scarves.
roll on Eastleigh in a fortnight.

Still don't get why if the ball smashed the liner in the face, why was it eventually restarted with a drop ball, surely it should be a throw in as the ball must have left play to hit him.

Straight from the rule book Boylie

Ball in play
The ball is in play at all other times, including when:
• it rebounds off a goalpost, crossbar or corner agpost and remains in the
eld of play
• it rebounds off either the referee or an assistant referee when they are on
the field of play

The ball inside the field of play touches a person other than a player.

If, when the ball is in play, it touches the referee or an assistant referee who is temporarily on the field of play, play continues because the referee and the assistant referees are part of the match.

Curious rules Boylie but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

It was such a long delay that the referee had probably forgotten why he'd stopped the game in the first place!

After all, if he couldn't remember whether he'd already booked a player or not, even after looking at what he'd written in his notebook...

Just to clarify:

It seems to me that in the opinion of the referee the ball hadn't fully crossed the line before hitting the linesman so therefore technically it's still in play.

(I used to be a referee  )

But he was off the pitch. I'm not actually bothered. Just thought it would have been a throw.

Is there any qualified refs in the crowd was funniest announcement of the day.

Another long journey and a 2-2 draw, which on reflection was a fair result. One of the best own goals I have seen,a bullet header into the corner of the net.The linesman took one full in the face and apparently his eye was swollen and closed shortly after.
A lot of long balls hoofed upfield which Cook mostly dealt with magnificently.Unfortunately there was nobody near enough to take advantage.Grimes totally ineffective and Mellor is a big disappointment given his football league experience.I feel a bit for Symington. He is not a natural right back but has been asked to play in that position and yesterday he was up against a very good winger. He did his best and when he does come forward he is one of the best crossers of the ball we have.Pilks another solid display and J Williams is a good prospect.
All in all a good away day and there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. However,a Tuesday night game against Gateshead in poor weather could see the lowest gate of the season.
A mid table finish beckons and hopefully assemble a better squad for next season. :scarf:

Quote from the Woking match report.

"As for Barrow, their taskmaster of a boss, Paul Cox has certainly built a prototypically robust outfit, which must rank among the fittest seen at Kingfield this season"

Is Paul Cox a player manager now.
Sounds like he had a great game according to the Woking reporter.
