Re: Barrow v Swindon match thread
No idea what the Swindon lot are all salty about. They were outplayed, out battled and probably should have been more than 2 down in the end. We hit the post and fluffed a few very decent chances (oh for a goalscoring striker). I can only remember one save Farman had to make and no other real chances for them.
Their diving and play acting was ridiculous (5 minutes for a hurt pinky? Seriously?) and the referee fell for it every time. Was worried he would give them something everytime they fell over. They were a disgrace surrounding the officials at every opportunity and their mob of idiots outside were even worse.
Thankfully, the Swindon fan I spoke to had a bit more about him, admitting they played shite and their "ultras" are a bunch of knobs.
Correct motm for me, although white was a very close second. COYB

They have a good opening 15-20 minutes then faded til Sicknote Williams came on and gave them a bit of impetus, apart from that I didn’t think they were up to much - which is a credit to us, of course.
Lovely stuff.

Re: Barrow v Swindon match thread
Was the flare that ended up on the pitch thrown by a Swindon fan as I think they have form.for doing this? The reason I mention it is because I was reading one of their fans comments from the day before the game and he mentions that one of their number has history for doing this.Whoever it is whether it be one of their fans or ours they should be banned for life from going to any match by the EFL once their identity is known.Imagine what would have happened if if an attacking player had been hit in the eye.It could have ended thir career.

Re: Barrow v Swindon match thread
I thought Connor brown was fantastic today along with Banks everyone apart from Zanzala he offers nothing don't know what he offers not a goal scorer can't hold it up he could of had 2 tap ins first half just had to get in front of defender never on his toes always stood still I hope Cooper has a striker lined up the league is so open anyone can beat anyone I honestly think if we recruit well we won't be too far away got some decent lads
Re: Barrow v Swindon match thread
Totally agree with your comments regarding Zzzzzz. No pace, no hold up play, no passing, no shots and no goals. Everyone else played very well or better. We have a good team and a striker would complete itHarveyBallKendall wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 7:35 pm I thought Connor brown was fantastic today along with Banks everyone apart from Zanzala he offers nothing don't know what he offers not a goal scorer can't hold it up he could of had 2 tap ins first half just had to get in front of defender never on his toes always stood still I hope Cooper has a striker lined up the league is so open anyone can beat anyone I honestly think if we recruit well we won't be too far away got some decent lads![]()

Connor Brown is a winner and never fails to give it everything. He is our best right sided defender and Cooper is seeing that now.

Thought his yellow card was very very harsh but you hold your breath with every challenge after that
Thought he had a fantastic game today, as did most of them.
Thought Zanzala's attitude and effort was better than of late, but where has the promise gone? He played better when he wasn't fit! Agree with all the comments re: no hold up play, no pace, doesn't finish. Summed up with the extra touch and losing the ball instead of just hitting it when through.

Re: Barrow v Swindon match thread
Loved it today. Nice to see a Barrow side really get at an opposition that whinged from minute one following the lead of their manager over the past couple of days.
Sad thing is Swindon proved at times they could play football but they were an embarrassment throughout and lost discipline totally at the end. I also had the misfortune of sharing a train for an hour back to Lancaster on which the majority of their fans whined incessantly in their pseudo west country accents. I smiled whilst I turned up the volume in my headphones to drown them out.
Enough of them though. We were magnificent. Gotts was deservedly given MOTM and was instrumental in most of what we did well. White ran himself into the ground, Banks was composed and effective whilst Stevens and Connor Brown also shone. Platt when he came on, Grayson and Brough also had decent games. Really no one had a bad day.
It is difficult to pull out negatives but the one obvious one is our lack of potency in front of goal and it does feel like a penalty was the only way we would score. I had feared we would not manage it again this year. We need a striker in January, probably two. For some reason Zanzala has totally lost any sign early promise he showed.
Big three points made especially sweet by Swindon's sour grapes.

It was on the swindon side when farman picked it up, surely they would have had a red flare which is why I was surprised it was blue, cctv will find them for sure.Methuselah wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 7:34 pm Was the flare that ended up on the pitch thrown by a Swindon fan as I think they have form.for doing this? The reason I mention it is because I was reading one of their fans comments from the day before the game and he mentions that one of their number has history for doing this.Whoever it is whether it be one of their fans or ours they should be banned for life from going to any match by the EFL once their identity is known.Imagine what would have happened if if an attacking player had been hit in the eye.It could have ended thir career.![]()
Re: Barrow v Swindon match thread
Smoke bombs have been regularly set off at away games all season and it p*sses me off. From where I was stood at the Holker end it was thrown from the Barrow section. Hope we can find and ban the culprit

Yes, 1-0 away in 1967-68. In fact that is the only time we have beaten Swindon, until today!Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 5:57 pm Can anyone recall the last time we beat Swindon? Div 3 days
