Swindon appointed Ben Garner on July 21st 2021 with hardly any players signed and they have done pretty well this season

As much as I don't like Dale Vince, no way is he appointing Phil Brown as manager. TBH as a Swindon fan, I'd be more concerned that he'd try to nick Ben Garner - as someone pointed out, he's done pretty well considering the players we had on our books when he was appointed.

Absolute real shout this. Neil Critchley has proved that moving from a premier league development squad to a football league club can be a success when he moved to Blackpool who were in EFL1 at the time, from Liverpool u/23’s and led them to promotion.

The Simon Grayson fanboys can leave now…would you want him to bring his excellent assistant from Fleetwood as well?

If not, Dave Unsworth would be a good shout. Simon Grayson is in the Phil Brown category of having success in his earlier managerial jobs but latter plenty of failures.

I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, but for me this is bad news. The club needs a period of stability. PB was obviously interested in taking on the job and the board wanted him to stay, otherwise both parties would not have been in negotiations. This is pure speculation on my part, but it could be that PB wasn't satisfied with the budget for players, the location of training, the absence of an academy or a combination of all three.

The club must get its act together soon, otherwise it will be in another relegation fight. The constant turnover of managers suggests that there are deeper problems at the club than purely manager recruitment.

Some people saying brown was out of football for a long time before he came here, but how long has grayson been out of football ? Sunderland, Bradford, Blackpool and Fleetwood are his last 4 clubs all lasted less than 12 months.

This is pure speculation on my part, but it could be that PB wasn't satisfied with the budget for players, the location of training, the absence of an academy or a combination of all three.

In which case the board did well not just to bow down to his demands if it turns out they were ridiculous; how many of us all thought the training in Barrow idea was stupid? Thankfully we have got rid rather than just let him spend another fortune on bad ideas, we’ve already done plenty of that since we got promoted
