We are a year ahead as it stands, how far back would be if we went down this year?
Off the pitch nothing much has changed and you could say its still stuck in year one of "the plan"
Currently we are not in a relegation battle.
Edmo has nothing to do with off the pitch?
Currently being the keyword there.
I know Edmo is little (not nothing) to do with the club off the pitch but Im just pointing out that the club needs to "get promoted" off the pitch as well because its stick stuck in its lowest gear.
IMagine heading into the football league trying to sell football manager 2008 and Jason Walker t shirts with very little sponsors.

Well said a former member of this forum i`d feel more confident for our future if our long term plan i.e. "ground development",football league promotion, commercial side had some timescale put on it, goal posts seem to move as fast as the backing for edmo "empty words" springs to mind!

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
I think he expected more because he is paying out a fair bit in wages etc .. I would imagine our budget and the money Edmo has had is far in excess to the amount of money given to the likes of Bromley, Braintree and Dover who are all having good seasons.
I'm sort of in the Edmo out group now because the football is fairly bad - if we were to play like we did in the last 3 games of last season I would be fairly content. I don't like the way it has been done and I think it is unfair to carry on like this - I think Mr C should just make his mind up now one way or another - back or sack because It's really damaging the club.
I also want to see progress made off the park with regard to securing the long term future at the club - if PC was to walk today and hand the club over to the fans we would be bust in a month because of the wages, if we had better facilities a strong commercial set up and an infrastructure in place I would be happy but I think these things will come as part of the masterplan (if indeed one exists). What I would say to Mr Casson is don't be afraid to ask for help (I don't mean just for cleaning etc - although the people that help out with things like that are worth their weight in gold) because we have many talented fans that would be happy to help.
We all want to see the club be a success

The whole DE departure is being strung out badly.
Not fair to DE ,the club or supporters.
It's being done in a true Texan way ride them COWBOY.
Maybe PC is trying to find a buyer!!!!!

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
I'm repeating here under the "Darren Edmondson thread" what I put in a post under comments on the Grimsby game.
I'm doing so because in my opinion sacking the manager would be a hasty knee jerk reaction to a situation that is currently a bit frustrating but not as bad as it seems.
It was clear last night that we were the inferior team, pretty much in every department.
There were little cameos of positive football, but personally I don't think some of the players are good enough to play effectively in the top half of this league.
We are obviously inept in and around the opposition penalty area, and dangerously fragile in our own - 3 goals scored and 10 goals conceded in 3 games. There is no obvious link between the defence, the midfield and attack (what attack?) I've seen each of those last three games and Andy Cook is more and more isolated and seems to be winning fewer and fewer headers.
No good playing lump-it-up if he isn't performing.
Despite all these things I still think the manager deserves more time. You can't play tactics with weak links in the side.
My biggest criticism of him is his lack of being able to spot a player. Those brought in pre season (with one exception) have been poor, so it calls into question his judgement in a very important area.
Underpinning everything is the attitude of Mr Casson. If he gets bored or frustrated with a lack of success, then his dream will shatter and the financial tap will be turned off. Then we are in real trouble.
Personally I think we should stick with the current manager. He should invest and offload wisely in January (with appropriate backing from our currently enthusiastic chairman).
If the team are poor thereafter, then it must be time for a change.
It's our first season after promotion. We need to consolidate not panic. It's always a gamble chucking one manager for another.
Isn't the long term plan to have a decent stadium, to get the team established in The Football League with a view to staying there?
The "sack Edmo" thing is in my opinion much too early, too many people are too impatient for success - perhaps the chairman as well.
It needs to be a much more measured approach.
I sat in the stand last night, on the half way line, and yes, anyone paying their £15 is entitled to their opinion, but I was a bit saddened by the negative approach of many around me - no real support for the team, just a barrage of negativity aimed mainly at the manager because he is an easy target.
3 or 4 new players in in January, 3 or 4 out, and see what happens.
There is no danger of relegation.

It's these two things here. What makes you think Edmo would invest and offload wisely in January if he hasn't done so thus far? He has a pretty poor record.Hitthebar22 wrote:He should invest and offload wisely in January (with appropriate backing from our currently enthusiastic chairman).

If he is true to form and the team continue to be poor after that then we might as well accept relegation.
Also, unless there is major change, we are going to be RIGHT in the middle of a relegation dogfight. I have no doubt at all about that.

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
It's simple , if u were the chairman would you give Edmo another pot of cash too spend !? We only have one goal scorer at the club in Cook , nothing in midfield. Even Cook has too settle for scraps these days . A lot of home games we don't test the opposition gk well until the 60 min mark , sometimes later. That is unacceptable at any level! Goals are hard too gain, chances are not .

Agreed, the supporters and the owner have been patient enough I think. If Flyde hadn't handed us the title we would be going through the same scenario in Conference North right now.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...
Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Nice piece in tonight's Evening Mail with Darren saying that he's proud of his record since becoming manager.
Perhaps he should be judged on that and not just the few games since the AFC Fylde cup exit.

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Result wise, his record is fine as far as league matches go; cup games are a different matter.
The main issue, though, has been the lack of entertaining football and the perceived lack of person motivation from certain players. And, this season in particular, the lack of goals scored and number of goals conceded.

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
The money he had to build a team last season - I could have managed to win the league
When he came in he did well and last season we scrapped over the line playing mostly poor football with probably the biggest budget and best players
Reading that article it's quite sad but maybe it's time for someone else to move us forward

The way this is being handled is terrible.
Edmos article is sad.
I am no Edmo fan but PC should end this farce. It shows him in a bad light ,in decisive .Irrespective of the result on Saturday he should be paid off and stop the torment .
