Players we might be interested in....

For all things Barrow AFC. Keep discussions civil and fair, we're all Barrow aren't we!

Ask Chelsea fans what they think of Chris Sutton
In the same vein, Quigley has scored 11 goals in 59 games since he left Barrow. At Stockport he didn’t really get a look in, and was poor in a poor side at Rochdale on loan.
On the other hand, look what Cook has done since he left.

Pedro made a valid point. We need a proven goal scorer. Over the years we've had some cracking strikers - Jimmy Mulholland, Jimmy Mulvaney, Tony Field, Cowps, Andy Cook, Byron Harrison and Scott Quiqley to name a few. Of the aforementioned, only Quiqley didn't have a good track record. And we all know who got the best out of him. Not sure if Peter Wild has that quality of man management - yet.

We're not going to attract proven goal scorers from the leagues above or from our rivals. So why not sign a young 'proven' goal scorer from the leagues below? I'm sure there's a future Vardy or Bowen out there somewhere just waiting for an opportunity to excell at a higher level.

Unless we sign a 'quality' striker soon I've a feeling the 2023/24 season is going to be a struggle...
Not quite proven but Liam Waldock scored 20 goals for Gainsborough Trinity, only 1 of which was a penalty. Could be worth a punt as he’s only 22.

So we need a proven goalscorer, as proven by Plymouth winning the league without one. Got it.

Grimsby’s chairman wrote an interesting piece in the Guardian t’other day, pointed out the obsession people have with WE NEED A 20 GOAL A SEASON STRIKER!!! before pointing out that Plymouth won L1 with a top scorer with 13 goals; Orient won L2 with nobody in double figures. We need more goals in our team but it doesn’t necessarily mean signing a proven bagsman. If we can work out how to get more goals from midfield and the defence, that’s just as good.
Good points. Perhaps Pedro should take note! ;)
Will take that but waters left and he had scored 9 goals

We tried all last season to score goals from midfield and defence with this squad. We failed to do it. Different horses for different courses. We need a striker, Pete seems to think Garner is the answer. ???? :skill:

being linked with Aberdeen midfielder Dean Campbell who was on loan with Stevenage last season (Tranmere the other club linked to him).

They had THREE strikers who could all score goals
Not sure if they were 'Proven' strikers - you'd have to study their stats before they played for Argyle.
Not sure if you even understood my post?
'Proven' as in PAST goal scoring feats...Get it?

Think the point being made is just that they didn't have the magic 20 goal striker, but did have more than one person scoring a reasonable number of goals. Can argue it either way, I suppose!

Out top 5 scorers scored 35 Plymouths top 5 scored 50.
How many games did we come from behind to win
The point being made is the players we are bringing in are all unproven.
Be good to see if Gordon signs
