That's good to know Peter - Sounds like at least a couple of lessons may have been learned from the Bayliss fiasco!

Before i start i know some people on here will say talks cheap but just read the interview in tonights mail with Edmo and it's so refreshing to hear him talk so positively after all the negativity from the last few years! :manager: yes we do!

I know cost is the biggest factor, but how can we expect a team that is locally based to perform competively in this league and maybe not even in the league below. I know Ray Wilkie had success but his charisma ensured he had quite a few very good players from the North East to bolster the team. For example Kenny Lowe and Steve Higgins to name just two. I hope I am proved wrong but I fear that our team will never aspire to the achievements of the last few years if we go down this route. Performances will determine the gate. We're down to 500+ at the moment and I can't remember gates being as low in the last twenty years or so, although the statos might prove me wrong.
Still, if the economy picks up, HS will be prime land for houses or a retail park and our team might just be a memory.

Its not about a locally based team, its about having a mix of players from away and the best locals.

I don't think anyone thinks we can put 11 players out all from Barrow, what we can do is make sure those who make the cut are given the opportunity.

Supporter for life how can you make those comments when we havn't heard edmo/the boards plans also notwithstanding this these will obviously take time you hint at failure well the simple economics are unless one of us wins the lottery this has to be the way forward why are so many people being so negative i honestly don't know why "uncle peter" and the maintenance team bother!

I've seen some rough times in the past but this time there is a definite apathy at the top which is also reflected on the field. No rallying calls as in1999. The Keen's are bumbling along and it's obvious they want out and who can bame them. Perhaps encouraging other people on board in the good times would have helped prevent the position we now find ourselves in. No disrespect to Peter and the maintenance crew, they are doing a superb job but the delay over manager, the lack of communication, and not just now, are turning people away. I've been a supporter since the league days and I am so dispirited by what's happening I'm not sure I want to go again even though I have a season ticket.

That's pretty much how I feel. The nonsense between Barrow and the "we are bigger than you" bollox with Workington really annoys me as well. Look at where both teams are on and off the pitch!. How sad to see our clubs in this position.

Nearly put a +1,and although i agree with most of what you say haven't got the heart to tell em to [SwearFilter] off.They are barrow fans after all and follow their team through thick and thin.Some supporters have decided to vote with their feet.Fair enough.Feel mostly really sorry for those not in work and pensioners who have to fork out their cash on selective games,and are rewarded like the rest of us with poor performances.For those that came back today(though the attendance does not reflect that many did)all i can say is that this is a new manager with a remit to keep us in this league this season and that is why i will keep trudging along to HS, just like we did in the old days of gola league/unibond etc when we were getting gates of 200+.We know how bad we are at present.We just have to give the manager time to get in players needed to stem the bleeding.Surely he deserves that respect.Its all frustration on here.Thats because we are Barrow fans and we care deeply.Thats why i cant knock barrow fans.We all want what is best for our club,we just have different ways of showing it really.But by staying away the club is being hurt.anyway..

If you are on about my comment on the thread started by Mike Wilson I wasn't encouraging people NOT to go.
I simply wasn't encouraging them to go, there is a big difference Charlie.
When asked I'm not gonna say its great when its been [SwearFilter] awful for most of the season but wouldn't put people off who did want to come like my 2 mates if you read my post.
