Re: Explain this one - Performance Centre?
I have no connection to the coach, Steve, I thought though exactly what you mention in the latter part of your post. Someone young who's been given the task of releasing x amount of players and probably found it incredibly difficult to do so. He could have handled things better, yes but I don't think that he should have been sacked. It's a sad state of affairs from both sides.

Re: Explain this one - Performance Centre?
Glad the club seemed to have this in hand and that it has been dealt with rapidly. Unfortunately the parents now seem to be bringing other things into it, tracksuits, money etc which makes it look a bigger issue than what it is. I get the feeling if their lads were kept on (for another match) it wouldn't be such a problem.
Some of these lads do have an attitude problem, how may 18 year olds don't? But it isn't helped by the way a lot of them are built up by parents to be something they are not. You only have to scan through some of the parents social media to see this - rightly they are proud that their child has done well and want others to know but some of them falsely put forward things that aren't quite true and miss off many of the facts, maybe to impress others. If facebook and twitter are anything to go by then we as a town are on the verge of a unveiling a massive amount of world class players. They build themselves and their kids into something they are not, by pushing them into teams that win everything at local level (by poaching any good player in the area) then BANG, the bubble bursts and somebody is to blame - its never them. If these lads cant impress at Barrow Performance centre, what chance do they stand elsewhere? My feeling is the performance centre has been made out to be bigger and better than it actually is by parents and coaches, in reality it is the old Barrow boys teams of 30 years ago.
One other thing, these lads are 18 years old, when I was that age you dealt with things yourself, not got mammy and daddy on to it. I'd have been chuffing embarrassed if they had. When will they take responsibility for themselves..... then again, maybe that's the problem!

Can't blame the parents for someone being sacked, the club made that decision, and there must have been plenty of other options.
I'm sure most affected parties would have been happy with an apology for the way it was handled.

Re: Explain this one - Performance Centre?
They are the ones who have come on here airing dirty laundry which could have been dealt with between themselves. They're the ones dragging up other alleged happenings and to me it seems as if they wanted someone to be the fall guy for it. There was no need whatsoever to broadcast any of this as publicly as has been and as a result the club had to be seen to be acting on it (by firing the man who has taken responsibility for the ill thought out letter).

Potentially asking for more bad press then by sacking a bloke for apparently only wording a letter badly then.

Re: Explain this one - Performance Centre?
It seems to me, if the person who has been sacked had answered his phone or answered text messages this whole epsiode could have been kept private. I cannot blame parents for coming on here for answers after all attempts to contact the preformance centre employee had been rebuffed.
Some on here are vilifying parents for exposing BAFC in a bad light, but who on here would like to have their child smeared as a drug user (among other things)? I for one wouldn't.

No one's saying drug dealing, but with the state of the some of the hair cuts in that U18 squad, I wouldn't put a bit of taking past them.Renfrew Refugee wrote:It seems to me, if the person who has been sacked had answered his phone or answered text messages this whole epsiode could have been kept private. Re: Explain this one - Performance Centre?
My lad was involved last year with the 18's and were all told after several social media episodes of pictures posted etc that it wouldn't be tolerated. Several lads were dropped or left out due to breaches of this.
Not privvy to goings on this year as he's too old to be involved, but this is nothing new and was in place last year. Perhaps it was a case of the straw that broke the camels back.
It sounds like it could have been handled better and I think it's a bit harsh to dismiss the lad in question - but that's one of life's experiences for everyone involved.

[SwearFilter] sake.
It was clearly a generalisation ! Maybe it was about the lads social media usage? Who knows
People on here have just seen the worst word in the whole letter and jumped on it
NO ONE HAS CALLED ANYONE A DRUG USER.

Re: Explain this one - Performance Centre?
Please refer to page 1 of this thread the letter, paragraph 3 line 3.
"Off Field behaviour - drink, drugs, social media etc".
If that doesn't refer to the use of drugs (drug use) , please explain what does.

If thats the case why is no one going on about him being a possible alcoholic or twitter troll?
Its a [SwearFilter] generalisation.
Off field behaviour is a category and covers lots of different aspects hence the ETC.
Its not calling him an alcoholic , drug taking/dealing super lesbian lizard from outer space.
