Barrow v Solihull match thread
Re: Barrow v Solihull match thread
It will be interesting to hear what Pennock makes of it. Defensively I think we are not bad, but desperately lack creativity, flair, pace - you name it - up front. Four strikers today and none made any impact.
EDIT - looks like I am not going to find out what Pennock made of it. However, I hope it was because they spent a good half hour locked in the dressing room with the players telling some harsh truths.

Re: Barrow v Solihull match thread
Well that's the honeymoon over with then
Dreadful ...Harrison was a disgrace. Thanks for Bristol Rovers but go now please. I get all the injury problems but it's not just that- all his career has been like this and chickens are coming home to roost.
Holty was shite but somehow managed to be the best of 3 forwards and he was gash. [SwearFilter] sentiment, shed a few pounds and sort yourself out. .
Hall scored but was bobbins, offered little again.
The defence was poor for both goals- weak and indecisove- Jones was poor but should have stayed on in a game like that where his delivery is a weapon. Makoma, never a footballer as long as I have a hole in my backside.
No soft soap or spin in the Press Box please Ady/Holty and a better performance at Wrexham.

We’ve won 7 home games in the league during 2017. We’re terrible at home. There’s no Fortress Holker Street. The highlight was probably beating Lincoln 3-0 in January. Seems a long time ago now.

Re: Barrow v Solihull match thread
Really rubbish performance today Harrison not really performed since came back from injury.Holt overweight spent more time arguing and trying to win fouls then playing..Not a penalty was a perceptible hesitation then threw himself to ground as keeper moved to close the angle.Too many people not trying.Moussa hero last two games had an off day.Really depressing that a basement side rang rings round us.No pace or width no pressing.Every one stayed back bar one for their set pieces and then if he got the ball no one to pass it to.Felt for Cassons today we get a good deal for free tickets to encourage people to come and then serve up that garbage.Mr Pennock unless still
Bollocking players when radio people went home should have faced media to apologise for that performance.Who will want to come back to watch again after that disgrace of a match. I can accept players not being as food as opposition but cannot forgive people who don’t put maximum effort in.Team selection debateable.Rant over.

An instantly forgettable performance and not one of our players can come out of this with any credit. We couldn't string any passes together against a poor Solihull side with an even worse strip.
Many more performances like this and we are going to be in trouble.I haven't seen anything in Holt for him to be in the starting line up.Just a massive disappointment all over and I hope we perform a lot better on Monday.

Welcome, visitors, to colander Holker Street. Enjoy the points you take back home. Four defeats and a draw in the last five home games? Relegation form for sure. We may still be well clear of Guiseley but they do have the games in hand.
Agree with a number of the comments on this thread . . . the first thing the manager needs to do is read the riot act to Harrison; we all know he has quality and footballing intelligence but unfortunately it seems to go hand in hand with trying to rival another high quality former player (Danny L Rowe) for the title of most criminal non-trier we have had. Unfortunately, these last two games, Holty has sadly suggested his playing days are gone, even for this level. And White? Well, White is, well, White. Of the strikers that we do have Yussuf should be first on the sheet and there he is languishing on the bench.
Make no mistake, I am a big fan of Moussa but MOM today? Having a laugh?
But as we have seen previously this season, it's not the case that we are useless, more the case that there was a total lack of passion and professional commitment today. We might have hoped that the Wrexham draw would have ended the bad home run but no, it's now plunged new depths. I guess the honeymoon is over for the new manager and the test really begins now. This shower needs shaking up. If we lose our shining star, Jimmy Dunne, then it could really start to get scary. Today was an insult to the paying customer. In fact, it was an insult even to the non-paying customer.

Re: Barrow v Solihull match thread
Utter dross out there today excluding Dunne a young loanee. Moors couldn't believe their luck when the decent Jones was taken off and no one went to left back, you could practically see them realise that Barrow had missed a trick and went marauding down the open wastelands of our left flank.
And Man of the Match Diarra??? he cost us the game. I shan't be going back there again this year.

It's been apparent since the sale of the best players that we need equal or better.pjdaly wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2017 6:40 pm Welcome, visitors, to colander Holker Street. Diarra is not the finished article,no one was brought in to replace the experienced Danny Livsey,we are short of at least one midfielder or may be two
No decent replacements have been brought in to replace the players sold.
Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic is not the answer
Grant Holt has been a good player but let's be honest we poached him from the mighty Kings Lynn that says it all
I listened to Alan Shearer talking about the lack of investment in players thought why is he talking about Barrow then he mentioned Mike Ashley

Re: Barrow v Solihull match thread
After the first half he should have sorted it out at half time in fact we got gradually worse I get the impression that some of these players don't care and some just are not good enough and that's not counting certain player's who are always injured time to offload.
Pennock talks a good game llike to see him explain his and the teams performance !
Had a reply from bafc they said Aza Hall was sent to talk to the media A COP OUT or what?
Re: Barrow v Solihull match thread
Harrison - I remember listening to you in Chester station mocking the shit clubs in this league and how barrow need to get out of this league - rightly so I gave you my opinion that day and from them on you went right down in my estimation - I’m still waiting to be proved wrong about his ability - not interested and doesn’t deserve to be in the starting 11.
That said whole team was bad today and if they can’t put in a performance against Solihull there’s something wrong
Debating now whether to bother going to Wrexham on Monday but I’d like to see this great away team that seems to turn up

Re: Barrow v Solihull match thread
Strange starting line-up, not sure if any players were recovering from the illness bug that seems to be doing the Christmas rounds which might’ve forced APs hand.
Can’t understand the thought process behind taking Jones off though, I thought he was having a decent game (admittedly amongst a lot of bad displays). Whatever shape/plan we did have went completely out of the window after he went off.
I wouldn’t like to be a player in the home dressing room after that - then again, I wouldn’t like to be the manager trying to explain that performance to Paul Casson.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
