And do you know what its reputed to have cost ?

They are currently completing the fourth side of the ground with a structure that this time appears to be being built at a pretty reasonable cost.

I know let’s just stick half arsed efforts all over the ground cos we can’t raise money like EVERY other club seem to be able to. Why are we virtually the ONLY club who have just stick seats in weird places to make do!! Surely grants are available now we’re EFL, sponsorship must be more attractive etc etc.

Could always ask Holker Okd Boys for their stand and stick it somewhere eh……

The whole of the original development that they were responsible for paying for cost almost 24 million take away their contribution towards the infrastructure and the two covered standing areas they built and i.d say you were looking at way north of 10 million for the main stand and hospitality complex its a very touchy point with Baron Haythornthwaite.

Fleetwood built a similar structure without the fancy hospitality areas and replaced them with office space [ which their owner Andy Pilley's company rent from them ] for a fraction of the cost of the Fylde stand.

I think we have probably exhausted our stadium funding grants with work done previously on floodlights and other works in Casson era

I believe floodlight improvements come from a separate specific fund.

And as you're only entitled to a percentage of any particular project I wouldn't think the floodlight upgrade with have eaten up that much of the available fund.

The problem is as money gets tighter every year they keep changing the rules Andy Holt at Accrington lost out on nearly 100k because he started a job that had been approved to get it finished before the start of the next season and to protect his future entitlement he had to do the jobs without claiming a grant on them to protect his future entitlement.

With our league 2 future now sorted what is the criteria regarding the extra seats we need, do they need to be in for the start of the Season which kicks-off on July 30th, what are the plans and is the area for away fans getting extra seats, is it true the walls close to the pitch at the Holker End & Cross Bar/Steelworks End are getting replaced.

Technically yes, but if it’s not done before the season starts, it could reduce the attendance (and income) of home games. There’s also accessibility issues that may mean work vehicles entering the pitch as they did when the roof was put on the HS end.

From what ive been told, we are flattening the away corner and building a seated stand which goes upto, but does not connect to the main stand. Also we are throwing 2 rows of seats in the steelworks end. Still stand by what ive said in the past. From a stadium building POV the trust bar is the worst decision the club has made in a long time, sad, but true

Cheers for the info, I wonder if planning permission will be needed like with the HS roof, as that might take a while. Seems to make sense putting seats in the away end, as we could have had higher attendances / revenue this year from teams like Bradford / Carlisle, we just need to silence them earlier next year

It's not the Trust Bar.

You can access these grants for certain things in a certain order to maintain league status.

That 750k we have to match in some way.

When Accy came up, they had at one point to put seats along their 'Holker End' which was universally hated. Even there, where the owner is more well heeled, this had to be done. It's taken out now.(Edit: BTW we aren't!)

We don't have an Andy Piley or indeed Dale Vince. We have a local consortium of Barrow fans that have done well and 10% from the Trust- which is 1020 fans and anyone who contributes through raffle etc.

Nothing has been able to be announced due to the situation on the pitch we found ourselves in. It would have been madness to go ahead till we were safe. That delay will bring challenges, both in supply costs and time but I am confident the club will meet them.

What we are going to get though, will happen in stages. If you look at the last 2-3 years' development, against the odds we have improved. Who would ever thought that waste ground would be packed with folk enjoying a drink in the sunshine, ready for another 3K plus gate in the Football League.

I agree that we should all look back on the past few years, in to Casson’s era, and consider how much we have improved off the field (and on). The ground will be lopsided for I reckon a decade or more until we can turn HS in to a nice FL ground

It will need a good few million spent to turn it into a "nice FL ground" Putting the roof on the HS end has made the ground worse IMO. Should have used that money on making the BA stand longer to house the extra seats required. Then put a cantilever roof on the HS end when they could afford it. instead they've made a poor stand with no cover into a terrible stand with a massively restricted view.

It stops you getting wet when it rains. If it is that bad why is it so well populated every week? The noise from the crowd is far better than it was without the roof.
