Re: Forest Green Rovers v Barrow match thread
What was that sub all about, we will see Arthur on Saturday with Brough suspended(5th Booking), What has Tom White done wrong before Gotts & Stevens arrived one of our better players, Stevens not played last 2 league games and still Cooper won`t play him. looks like we are going to spent a long time in that bottom 4/5, Sutton will score at least 1 goal on Saturday how many will we score. Banks also should get his finger out done nothing for several games.

Depending what Connor Brown did in the warm up I would imagine he’ll be at left wing back if fitbehind the goals wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:18 pm What was that sub all about, we will see Arthur on Saturday with Brough suspended(5th Booking)

I do think we were better in the first half tonight but second half absolutely woeful. We are in for a fight this season, no option going forward, play sideways and backwards all the time. Desperately need Santa to bring a striker.
Coffee - no wonder it was free. Forest Green should be done under the trade description act, it was vile. As for the milk, don’t push your vegan shit on those that don’t want it

Perhaps now you might appreciate how vegetarians and vegans felt for decades when they were given no palatable options. As for the milk, don’t push your vegan shit on those that don’t want it
And I bet you wouldn't have known it wasn't cow's milk if they hadn't told you.

Re: Forest Green Rovers v Barrow match thread
We did play better tonight, unfortunately we don,t seem to have anyone who can put the ball in the back of the the net from a cross.Until we do we will not win another game..
Re: Forest Green Rovers v Barrow match thread
Tonight's what you get when you play like we did against Carlisle and Crawley. We came out whilst still trying to be solid at the back, trying to be that little be more open but tonight it was against a much better side and it showed. We can't shut teams out no matter what we do.
Its going to be a bumpy ride until January and even then I don't think we'll see a true cooper side until the start of next season. Mind that FGR side tonight is why we need to stick with him until he's had chance to bring his own players in and moved the dead wood out .
He will get it right but at the minute we're carrying too many players not up to the level.

Big improvement from Saturday but then it had to be. First half I thought was fairly even.
Barrow looked solid and played some decent passing football, pressed well and put a couple of great crosses in which should have brought more. Very encouraging and restricted Forest Green to a few long range shots.
Second half they stepped it up though and we never really came out, a couple of dangerous moments before we conceded a soft goal from a corner which then put them in control. Huffed and puffed but they were more likely to make it 2 and did after some good play between their two forwards Matt and Stevens. Those two were the main difference tonight and if we had them we'd be a lot higher up the table. Also thought their right back Wilson was very good. Goals and even chances are hard to come by at the minute and couldn't fault Zanzala or Gordon for effort tonight but we didn't hold the ball well enough and it came back at us too quickly too often. At times I thought we rushed passes too and went for the long ball which I think is as much down to confidence as anything.
Pluses; Platt looks back to his best in defence very composed and classy, Gordon is a livewire upfront if we can get someone bigger alongside him (not convinced by Zanzala) Banks has good spells in games but does tend to disappear at times also.
Negatives; J Jones looks shaky to me and not great in posession he gave it away a few times tonight and this has been a few games now, Gotts has been poor last two games and needs a rest- White must be worth a go now? Kay for all his efforts loses the ball too easily and a fit Stevens must be in front of him.
I think it's a case of struggle on till January and then add new bodies, it's obvious what's needed, we don't score or create enough. We do still have a lot out injured too. Mark Cooper built a pretty good team at Forest Green over his time there, bit surprised he gets such a bad return from them but hopefully he can do something similar here.

Battled away but lacked the quality they had up front.
Support gave their all.
Stewarding typical FGR. Brainless and dont know the guidelines they try to rigidly apply. 6 times now...its them.

It's worth watching his interview on the club's site. In spite of how bad things are at the moment, I think he has a vision of where the club needs to be, which I hope the Board also share. It will take time.
It was interesting also to hear 'Lummy's' opinion of Cooper on Radio Carlisle last night. His view is that Cooper is a manager who takes time to build a team and he isn't afraid to make big changes in squad personnel. He thinks that this season may be all about keeping in this league while improving the squad in January, with major changes in the summer. It is also worth listening if it's on iPlayer. I think it was around 19.20 - 19.30 last night.
Re: Forest Green Rovers v Barrow match thread
Another thing I looked at last night was Sutton's form. They are 7th, yet they have lost as many games as us. Our comparitive records illustrate where our problem lies:
Sutton w9 d7 l7 F27 A 22 29 points
Barrow w4 d7 l7 F20 A23 19 points

Any reports on how Zanzala did? His name is conspicuously absent from the thread.
