He looked decent against Preston.
Whats Wyll done wrong? Made a split second decision yesterday that didnt work out - but apart from that he's been pretty solid as far I can see.
He needs to make these errors to learn from and develop - if he's doing it repeatedly then shows he isn't learning, but for now I think he's still the no.1

I agree, he’s not done a lot wrong. Being made a bit of a scapegoat for poor team performances.
If Winterbottom plays and makes a mistake people will be saying get Stanway back in nets.

When Stanway came in I was a little critical .
I think Winterbottom looks good.
Stanway is improving game by game, what I like is he comes off his line quickly when the defence makes a mistake .
Obviously he makes a mistake now and then but he is improving game by game.

Whing in his interview with Adam said he had told Stanway to stay on his line.

He was referring to the Harrogate goal when Stanway came out.

And if he had stayed on his line all game we would have been beaten by few more goals

Our defence is old .
I said come up against a fast team we will be beaten MKD proved that.
Canavan lacks speed and Raglan mistakes .
If Stanway stays on his line we will be thumped when playing a quick team.
The number of games he has come out and kicked the ball away when the defence missed it shows that.

So how did he communicate to Stanway that he should stay on his line for this goal? Did he just shout and hope he would hear him?

Whing seems to be putting the blame on Stanway for not hearing the shout!

Presumably it was a general instruction. As others have said coming out may also have saved goals though.

The manager's no holds barred interview technique is interesting. People said Stephen Clemence was too nice but if you're going to criticise in public you run the risk of losing the goodwill of the players. I guess during a lean spell whatever turns it round is forgiven.

I think you need to listen to the interview.

Many of the players will have no doubt seen the interview. It will be interesting how the players react to it. I guess have 20 minutes on Saturday we will know the answer to that.

The interview gave a pretty accurate representation of how poorly the team played. Whether the criticism should be done in public, or privately, is debatable.
Some players need an arm round them, and some need a boot up the backside.
I got the feeling Whing was firing from the hip, perhaps speaking to the media too soon. I know he has contractual obligations, but there are ways to avoid it.
The quality of performance has to improve
