RIP Myles Rowlandson
RIP Myles Rowlandson
it is with regret I inform all Barrow fans of the very sad passing of one of Barrow AFC's longest serving steward.
Myles Rowlandson passed away this morning following a stroke. Myles always took up position in the middle of the Wilkie terrace at the top of the stairs.
depest condolancies go to Mary and his son at this very sad time.
R I P MYLES YOU WILL BE MISSED BY ALL YOUR FRIENDS AT HOLKER STREET.

Re: RIP Myles Rowlandson
That's quite heart-breaking for me. Worked (literally) alongside Myles on the Popular Side for years and it was always a pleasure....always had a good craic.
Just glad to have known him.

Re: RIP Myles Rowlandson
If he is the man I am thinking of (always shouting for people to mind the cars) - very sad RIP

What a shame, another proper character from the game gone, Rest in Peace Miles, always look at fondness our little chats and jokes.
Education should be public not private, it should be open, accountable and answerable to all the community, pupils and parents.

Really sad news. Will never forget him giving me a Barrow AFC flat cap away at Rotherham back in 88. RIP Myles.
WOULD YOU LIKE A MINSTREL??????
Re: RIP Myles Rowlandson
I've known Myles since I was a kid. I heard at the weekend that he had been poorly again but had hoped he would be ok.
He always stopped me for a chat and was Barrow through and through.
He will be very sadly missed.
Condolences to Mary & Ian.

RIP Myles, I used to live next door but one to Myles, a good neighbour who always had a smile and a craic, just the same when you bumped into him at Holker Street. Sadly missed. John Kendall

Wouldn't of known the bloke by name but Bingo's description of him will help a lot of people realise who he was.anthony wrote:yes Bingo that was our good friend MylesBingo wrote:If he is the man I am thinking of (always shouting for people to mind the cars) - very sad RIP
It certainly wont be the same going in the pop side now without being shouted at to "keep in, we don't want any accidents now do we"
RIP Myles.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: RIP Myles Rowlandson
Like Spirit of 1990 I didn't know him by name but very readily recognise him from the description given. Yes, going in at the Popular Side will always be missing something from now on.
RIP Myles, and condolences to all family and friends who knew him.

Tragic and very sad to see Barrow stalwart Myles has passed on. I used to stand next to him and chat for the last few minutes of evening matches before legging it down HS to catch the last train. He was always very affable and friendly. Condolences to his family.

Re: RIP Myles Rowlandson
Very sorry to hear about Myles. I've known him for many, many years, firstly as a regular supporter at away games in the early 1980s (for some reason I always associate him with Matlock's ground - perhaps that's where I first met him), and later as a regular steward on the Popular Side. Whatever he was doing, he would always be ready with a warm welcome and could always find time for a chat. For some reason, he always called me Bob, though; I could never convince him that that wasn't my name!
Another sad loss to the Barrow AFC family - we've lost some good 'uns this season.
Deepest sympathy to his family.

Part of the furniture - Holker Street will not be the same for his passing.
Condolences to his family and friends.

Re: RIP Myles Rowlandson
Didn't really know him properly, but there are certain people you just expect to see when you turn up on a match day. So much so that it becomes part of the match day routine, and he was definitely one of those people. RIP Myles.

Really sad to hear this. Always had time for a word. RIP Myles.
