Barrow Pitch Inspection

10/01/2013, by Jeff Bowron
There will be a precautionary pitch inspection at 4pm on Friday to see if Saturday's FA Trophy 3rd round tie against Barrow can go ahead.

Every effort has been made to get the game on and the club is hopeful that the last 16 tie will be given the green light though the rain, albeit light, has returned today.

A lot of work has gone into making the pitch playable after two postponements this week against Nuneaton Town and Grimsby Town.

The quarter-final draw will be made at Wembley on Monday and if the game does not take place on Saturday it will be rescheduled for Tuesday night.

If Saturday's game goes ahead and ends in a draw the replay will be at Holker Street on Tuesday, the night Gateshead are set to play at Forest Green Rovers.

Gateshead have a full squad available this weekend while Barrow had their transfer embargo for an unpaid tax bill lifted on Wednesday.

The result of tomorrow's precautionary pitch inspection will be posted on this website.

See "New Signings" topic Jim.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

There are snow warnings out for the Gateshead area from 9am tomorrow (Sat) all the way to Monday night, although it is less likely to snow during the day when the game is on so I hope it does go ahead.

Saturday night the temperature in Gateshead is supposed to drop to freezing and will pretty much stay there well into next week. I would think there is little chance of a re-arranged game being played on the following Tuesday night as it stands, if they are right about the conditions that is. If it drags into the following week it might be a case of another re-arranged cup game disrupting our home games which we don't need right now. Must get it played tomorrow, game on.

In Durham. Has been dry for a few days. No snow, above freezing. Will get cold at some point on Saturday buy forecast is for that to be after 3 - unless a blizzard comes in, the match will be fine
