BAFC v Bury - Lancs Cup Game Coverage

Post by cheshepe_RL » Sat Oct 08, 2016 3:55 am

BARROW AFC v BURY

LANCASHIRE SENIOR CUP - ROUND TWO

TUESDAY 11th OCTOBER - KICK OFF: 7.45PM

Radio Lonsdale will broadcast the full LIVE match commentary of the Barrow AFC v Bury game to the patients, staff & visitors at Furness General Hospital. Coverage for patients at the hospital starts at 7.30pm.

As BBC Radio Cumbria are not covering this cup match, our team has decided to stream the game to Barrow AFC fans unable to get to Holker Street on Tuesday evening. The stream will go live at 7.40pm and the links will be added onto our face-book site (@RLFGH) and on the Barrow AFC Unofficial Forum over the weekend. :scarf:

This is a one-off service, by genuine AFC fans, for genuine AFC fans who cannot otherwise hear the game, as BBC Radio Cumbria normally provides excellent internet coverage of Barrow AFC matches!

Please remember when listening, that we are 100% volunteer run and rely on charitable donations for our existence. Our prime objective is to entertain the patients, staff and visitors at Furness General Hospital. We have no paid staff and Tuesday's broadcast will be free of charge for all. However, having said that, we wish to improve our service and welcome constructive criticism, preferably by email or private messaging.

Radio Lonsdale accepts no responsibility for loss of audio signal during this planned free open broadcast.

Radio Lonsdale, one-off match day links for the Barrow AFC v Bury game on Tuesday 11th October:

* Winamp, iTunes http://cast1.web-radio.co.uk:2199/tunein/doncann.pls
* Windows Media Player http://cast1.web-radio.co.uk:2199/tunein/doncann.asx
* Real Player http://cast1.web-radio.co.uk:2199/tunein/doncann.ram
* QuickTime http://cast1.web-radio.co.uk:2199/tunein/doncann.qtl

Just pick the link to suit the media player that you have on your PC. Just left click your mouse on the chosen link. Your media player should now open, with the words "Radio Lonsdale" displayed at the upper left hand side.

This football commentary stream will become active at 7.40pm and will remain active until the end of the game. If possible we will include post match interviews with Paul Cox but this will depend on time limits and Paul's availability.

Again, please remember that this is a one-off streaming service by your local hospital radio station, as BBC Radio Cumbria are not covering this game. Radio Lonsdale are broadcasting this game via our stream as a thank you gesture to the club and it's fans for the continued support of the work of our charity. :skill:

Please note that, due to music copyright issues, we will kill the live stream at half time, going live again when the players return for the second half. This is necessary as we will be playing music requests for our patients during the break and cannot play these live outside Furness General Hospital.

Forum member, mikeyb, will be posting a stream player for use on your mobile phones and other personal media players shortly! Thanks Mike! This will also be added to our website, www.radio-lonsdale.co.uk before tonight's game!

Damn good effort indeed. This 'exile' is (as will be many others) very grateful. Thank-you very much.

No problem folks! It's a pleasure to do this one-off for you! As one who worked overseas for 12 years, when communications were almost non-existent, I understand how nice it must be to get a little taste of "home"!

In 1996 I was posted in India, at Maithon Dam, in the middle of nowhere. It's okay I thought, as I had a brand new mobile phone! Ha! Ha! But there were hardly any transmitters in India at that time. It turned out that I got a 5 minute call to my wife and kids every two weeks, using the plant manager's land line phone! These days India is inundated with mobile phones and is one of the biggest users in the world.

So, thanks to the wonders of modern technology and hopefully, mikeyb's stream player, we should be able to give you expats (and others unable to get to Holker Street), a taste of tonight's game! BTW, for those overseas, the cold snap has arrived this morning and our commentary team will need our new heater tonight! :lol: Oh dear, I'll be in the warmth of the studio ensuring that the stream is working!

Ah, you'll be fine, Adam. Just switch the heater on when you arrive. That new heater really pumps the heat out, mate! Much better than the little fan heater we used to have! I knocked it down to "1" the other week, so put both switches on if it is cold and wind that thermostat up!

Sounded good Tom and AJ.

Hoping Howarth has a good game Today. Big fan
I think this is a competition worth staying in. We have a bigger squad and young lads who would value the experience.
