Students looking for a helping hand

My name is Anya Wood, I am a first year student at UCFB Etihad Campus, studying Football Business and Marketing. A number of you may recognise my name, as during my two years at Barrow Sixth Form College I volunteered at Barrow AFC. I worked front of house, in the shop and I was the liaison between Man of the Match sponsors and players. I also spent some of my 2015 summer working with local companies doing deals for sponsor boards.

My degree doesn't just involve, assignments and exams, it is also about gaining experience in the football industry and meeting people who are profoundly involved in the careers we intend to pursue. As part of my three years, I am working with 3 other first years from UCFB on a blog about stadiums and their famous pies - http://www.sisterhoodofpies.co.uk .

Currently we have done pie blogs on Barrow AFC, West Ham, Burnley, Leicester, Blackburn Rovers, Oldham, Bradford City, Manchester City, Stockport and Manchester United. We have also had exclusive interviews with Clarke Carlisle and a few Barrow players to find out their favourite pies.

We would like to know, if we could rely on a few people who would happily do a pie rating, email me a picture of the pie and the pitch for any anyway games that you go to - with maybe a little piece to blog about. It would help us a lot, because we intend to try and do as many stadiums, not just football, in the next few years at uni and hopefully continue it long after. We intend to add extras to the Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pies, including interviews with fans at games and videos of members baking pies and releasing new and exciting recipes.

Yes I know, during my blog on Barrow AFC I made it very clear that it is one of the only football club's that don't sell pies. However, what I am interested in is the pies from the away teams that Barrow play against, that is why myself and the other girls are after a few volunteers that would happily have a pie for us and rate it.

Kidderminster had a great selection and were pretty good but was more a meal in a tray than just a normal pie by itself. Not gonna play them this season but maybe next.
Regarding our ground as the food is done by outside caterers we have no control over what is sold but surely something could be organised so that we have pies?

Couple of years ago had some very nice meat n'tata pies at Wrexham, not sure what they tasted like though, bought them to put in my jacket pockets to keep my hands warm

I apologise for the misspelt word, I have corrected it, thank you. As for the 'you should have better things to do' comment, this is part of my University degree course; Understanding Football Fans and Customers, whilst using Integrated Marketing Communications.

Part of my degree course is looking at how football clubs can engage with customers, using fan experience and fan engagement. All students at UCFB, both Wembley and The Etihad learn this, along with having full support from the lecturers. The whole idea of this website and blog is to not just learn, but gain and actually take part in something that will engage with people. It will assist me in obtaining employment within the Football Marketing Industry, having learnt both the academic and practical skills needed.

Just some additional information on UCFB. Over 93% of individuals that come out with a degree end up in employment, more than half of which are in the sporting industry. We are lucky enough to meet with people that already work in the industry, either in the media or other business departments, in football clubs or other sporting institutions. I have already met, during my first 5 months; Mike Phelan, Brendon Flood, Stewart Pearce, David Moyes and Clarke Carlisle. We are given opportunities throughout for non-match day experiences and opportunities to work as interns in many of the Football League Clubs in the UK, helping us to progress into successful careers. Finally, there is extra complementary curriculum enabling ourselves to boost our CV's with additional qualifications making us more appealing to the working environment. I think it is safe to say that partaking in a degree like this, in something I am very passionate about, in such inspirational locations (Wembley, Etihad and Real Madrid) is worth doing. Plus, I think we will have some idea; having been taught by some of the most successful individuals in sport.
