The Mail

I was told that the Mail had no reporter at Saturday's game. I can't see any match update on their website either.

The demise since they were sold is a sad tale with a fair few either taking redundancy or being pushed. The club has enjoyed unprecedented coverage over the years. Is it all about to end? Clubs at our level need all the media coverage they can get.

Print media is dying.. I did see on twitter tho some guy said he was starting as the Barrow afc correspont on the mail next week

The mail didn't have a reporter there on Saturday, but they did have a photographer and I did the report which I'm guessing will be in the paper tomorrow.

They have a new BAFC reporter who starts tomorrow, we have invited him to come up to the FBSS to have a look around etc ready for Tuesday, and hopefully it will be the continuation of some great coverage for the club.

I think the Mail's days as a daily are numbered most local papers are now sadly weekly. The thickness of a paper is determined by how much advertising it carries. You can always tell a paper is in trouble when it gets thinner. I think the paper is now printed would you believe in Scotland. As for Barrow reporter's am I right in thinking Mike Young who covered the club during the dark days of the early seventies now lives in the Blackpool area ?

Yep, and still attends regularly, stands by me on the popular side. Got to know him when he covered the northern league cricket for the blackpool gazette, lovely bloke.

Moved on to take a media job at Lancaster University I think.

I looked at an online feature showing the results of a photographic competition; the photographs were very good but the captions were shocking; a bridge over some water, a sunset, a pretty flower, some mountains etc. Honestly, the school magazine would have thrown it out.
