1-1 fair result as Barrow dominate the first half and Bromley the second

Barrow remain neck-and-neck in 11th and 12th positions as they settled for a 1-1 draw, Barrow dominating the first half and Bromley the second. However, we were unlucky to be only 1-0 ahead at half-time as a stonewall penalty for a push on Brown was brushed aside minutes before Jones hit the bar with a free kick.
Despite Barrow having all the opening play, Bromley won the first corner in the 9th minute. However, just after the quarter hour, Jack Hindle hit the right post following an assist from Jacob Blyth and then crossed the rebound to Dior Angus who slotted inside the left post.
Dixon wasn’t troubled by the occasional shot from Bromley, saving easily from Brindley and Raymond. Indeed, it was Barrow who should have been given the opportunity to double the lead in the 31st minute as Connor Brown was clearly pushed over in the area as Bromley cleared from Blyth.
Four minutes later Okoye fouled Blyth 20 yards out. Dan Jones took the free kick which smashed against the bar.
At half-time it seemed likely we would kick on from where we left off and win the game. However, Bromley had other ideas, emerging as a different team.
Six minutes after the break, a long punt down field by Sam Wood was dangerously crossed by George Porter. Fortunately, no-one from Bromley was there to tap the ball home. The visitors then won a corner as pressure mounted. In the 54th minute, the equaliser came as a ball forward from Luke Coulson was turned across the goal by JJ Hooper, the ball creeping over the line past a despairing Dixon.
Two minutes later, Dixon just managed to clear the ball as Porter threatened to pounce in front of goal.
Lewis and Bugiel then came on for the visitors, replacing Sarpong-Wiredu and Coulson with Josh Kay replacing Jack Hindle. In the 70th minute, a ball forward from Sutherland lead to another save from Dixon, this time from Dennon Lewis.
With time running out, we finally re-found our form of the first half and had three opportunities to seal the win within two minutes. In the 79th minute, a cross from Kay gave man-of-the-match Angus a close-range header which Gregory saved. Rooney then slid a ball across the area which went just past the left post. A minute later, just after Bromley replaced Porter with Philpot, a good run down the left by Blyth enabled him to cross to Kay who had a great chance to score in front of goal. Unfortunately, his close range shot was blocked.
Lewis Hardcastle then came on for Rooney, injecting yet more late impetus to Barrow’s attacks. Three minutes later, a 20 yard Angus shot was saved by Gregory and, after an injury time Hardcastle corner was cleared, we had to settle for the draw. Attendance was 1,130.
