In that other thread, Emily, daughter of Billy Gilmour, asks if anybody has footage of the 1990 FA Trophy semi-final against Colne Dynamoes. She would like to surprise her Dad! Can anybody assist her? I've created this new thread so that her request isn't hidden away.

Good luck with this one. The quest for any Colne Dynamos / 1960’s Football league footage remains the holy grail.

never seen any footage of the Colne games - but the games were 2 years after the Enfield game though so who know if any exists?

I have a programme of the game at Colne if that would be of any use to Emily. There is ‘pen-pics’ info on Billy and a team photo with him in.

The line up has Billy on the bench so l guess he came on as a sub to score. As l remember it Wilkie had a selection decision to make at the final between Gilmour and Farrell with the latter getting the nod.

Top Barra Marra was Billy in a very good squad. As Glen Skivington said at the time ‘We would die for each other’ and it showed.

There was definitely a video of the 2nd leg as I've seen it, think you used to be able to rent it from the soccer shop

If you copy this link and go to 7mins 10 seconds, Billy's winning goal at whitley Bay in the cup replay is on there, great scenes when it goes in, was at that game, 30 years ago!

I distinctly remember seeing footage of the away leg at Colne. It was before social media and I think it might have been on BBC Look North at the time. Was at the home leg and remember it well. I assume there would have been similar footage.

I’d try the BBC archives. They rarely chuck anything away. These would’ve been kept probably at BBC Manchester on Oxford Road. Since then everybody has moved to Media City I’ve no idea where their archives are now located but probably still in Manchester. I’d give them a bell.

By the way my brother-in-law Carl Burden played with Billy at Wukkie in the eighties and would like to be remembered to him. I hope Billy’s shins are in a better state though. Despite Shin pads Carl’s legs now look like they’ve been badly sand blasted.

I must say, it really is lovely to hear memories/tales from the Barrow Days about my dad. It's very nice

After Wheatley and Carroll was my favourite player as a kid.
Always seemed like he could play anywhere on the pitch or was just everywhere

Awesome player. Seeing that goal against Whitley Bay took me back. Loved that Red away kit.

Billy Gilmour was my favourite player when I was a kid. I was overjoyed to meet him a few years back in the Cross Bar. Grant Holt was signing autographs and having selfies with all and sundry but saw the funny side when instead I asked him to take a pic of me and Billy.

When he scored that header at Colne and his momentum carried him towards the crowd he ran straight to where I was stood. Halcyon days.

The Soccer Shop was the old club shop in town, long gone now. I would have thought that if those videos had survived then it would have been transferred to DVD like some of the other old games were.

If there is a copy out there in private hands then I for one would love to see it, I’m sure I’m not alone.

Hello all! After two years I still haven't managed to find any footage of that game. Putting it out there in the slim chance there might be a resurfacing of footage?! Thank you again all for your lovely words about my dad - so nice to hear

For the 1st leg I’m pretty sure there was only a couple of hundred tickets available, I seem to remember there was a showing of the game in what was the old Barrow Public Hall. This took place either on the Monday or Tuesday evening following the game and IIRC there were hundreds in attendance. I’m sure others can verify this otherwise I may have dreamt it hence there must be a video recording somewhere ??
