Hopefully, a good training session on a grass pitch isn’t something we should turn our nose up at.

Scrap it. Meaningless waste of time these days

Maybe we could challenge them to a gym off. Most Burpees in 5 minutes wins. 5 Burpees off for leering at the female hot yoga class.

We might have to prioritise this Cup in order to get some grass under our feet more than once a week!

Remember this competition back in the day, was a treat to see top First division ( prem now) players coming back from injury playing at HS.

I've always thought that County Cups would make a good pre season competition. An added edge to what otherwise are relatively meaningless friendlies.

Anyone heard when this is going to be?

First Round ties are supposed to be played by next Tuesday looking at the LFA website.

Yep we beat Man United who had a few good first teamers playing not sure if Willie Morgan and Alan Gowling, Jimmy Rimmer played

Pretty sure Jimmy Rimmer was in goal for one of their visits.

I had the flu and couldn't attend one of the fixtures between the clubs. I remember it being a really foggy evening. A rumour going round school was that Bobby Charlton would be playing! Can't remember whether he did - as I was laying in bed

During the 1970s we also played MUFC at Old Trafford in the Lancs Cup Semi-Final. I remember reading the match report in the EMail which stated that The Stretford End was singing: 'Mulvaney For England'
Jimmy Mulvaney was one of our strikers.

Interesting thought, Sea Dog, but it seems that Bobby's one and only appearance playing in Barrow came when he was only a youngster, probably in 1953 or 1954. The article from the EM below is from just 10 years ago when Bobby visited Furness College in 2011 as an ambassador for a landmines charity. I can only assume that the match was played on Holker Street and that the great man graced our turf just that once - - - when nobody would have given the kid a second thought. As suggested in the article, he remembered very little about the day but at least he did remember coming to play here.
