The 1000 extra seats required.

At some point in the near future the club will need to address the requirement to increase seating capacity to 2000. I have no doubt some optioneering has already been done and reckon it will come down to a decision against one of these three-
1- To reconfigure the entire HS stand to seats
2- Develop either side of the main stand
3- Add seats in front of the Crossbar stand.
Think it will be option 1. Makes most sense and probably be most cost effective and do-able without major construction. Wont be popular with many though. Thoughts?

Maybe it's the big announcement hornby mentioned a few months ago that we've never heard about since.
Unless that was the gazebo in the away end and we missed it.

Going for the cheaper options is a worry, if we’re gonna do it let’s do it right - extend the stand either side, would look miles better and it’s the right thing to do.
Ideal world would be to bulldoze the monstrosity that is the Crossbar and make it a proper 4 sided ground but that would take some money.
Leave the HS end as is for now pls…..

Always thought not relocating the changing rooms was telling. Had a theory that the current main stand might be for the chop in favour of a longer, lower seated stand that spanned the length of the pitch.
No doubt where the best potential is though, the steelworks end. Costs permitting, that would be where I’d like to see the ground improvements.

Adding extra seats across HS end like they have already done in that small section would look absolutely horrific.

10k wouldn’t even pay for a serious design consultation , I accept it’s a start though

A mezzanine structure above the Fanzone designed to look like a continuation of the Cross Bar is doable and would tidy up that end l think.

Do the required seats have to be in before the end of the season or is there a deadline for the work, many non-league Clubs have faced relegation and refused promotion because of being late by only a couple of days, we know we will face relegation if the deadline is not kept.

I agree that of your three options, option 1 is the cheapest Jonty but it is also the most problematic... The steel pillars will be even more of a problem for seated fans but more importantly there would be a cost in reducing the capacity whenever there is a fixture where a large crowd would be expected. It may cost more but the ready made space at the side of the stand is the obvious place for more seats and would increase the capacity, although moving the floodlight might be needed.

IIRC the extra seats are required by the beginning of next season. You get two seasons to reach the required number to be EFL2 compliant We need 850 more seats as the 100 plus in the away end reduced our original requirement of around an extra 1000 ish seats required. My personal preference would be to extend the current stand on to the flattened western terrace and then put a few rows in the unused Cross Bar end incorporating the disabled supporters facilities into that area
