Meet the Board Night

Post by John Very Little » Sat Aug 25, 2012 9:29 pm

Spoke to TK after the game today and he said that they hope to organise one of these meetings in the near future.
I did query about the AGM and he said that wouldn't be happening yet for a while. At the time they were due to have an AGM earlier in the year other things were happening at that time and he was concentrating on the development bid which is still ongoing and has dragged on a lot longer than the club had initially been led to believe.
Although the club lost money 2 seasons ago, the accounts for that AGM (earlier this year) would only have painted a picture of the financial state of the club around 18 months ago but since then board have implemented a number of measures that have improved matters and aim to present a more updated (and improved) picture of the clubs financial position at this meeting.

[SwearFilter] me, the club had something on, or something else was hapenning. Welcome to the real world, im involved with several organisations who have to, and do hold an agm every year, no matter whatever else might be going on at the time or might crop up short notice.

Not aimed at you John, but absolutely no excuses for not having an agm every year, its simple really you hold the agm then at the end of the meeting you arrange the next one for twelve months on.
Education should be public not private, it should be open, accountable and answerable to all the community, pupils and parents.

I agree Phil. At best, this is incompetence. At worst it betrays utter contempt by the BOD for the members and the membership scheme as a whole. I don't care how long they are legally allowed to go between AGMs or the state of the proposed development, there is no justifiable reason why this one shouldn't have been held in the Spring (i.e. 12 months after the last one), never mind now 5-6 months later still.

But surely Phil sometimes things don't always go to plan. AGM's can be held off for any number of reasons (and I think we all know the reasons why in this case) hence why by law you don't have to hold one every twelve months.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Shame no AGM soon!! Maybe AGM should be renamed as its not annual! Fair enough that the club can't give us all the facts and figures right now, but would be nice to know when they can!!

Won't get anywhere though will it, any question asked will be greeted with the same John MacKay answers like at the "fans" meeting.

Anyone fancy hearing the new zealand water slide story again????

I see what you mean Ian, but still no reason I can see for not holding one every 12 months, none at all, things always crop up in my experience but when your responsibility is to others then its incumbant on those in control to do the right thing rather than just merely meeting the minimum requirements.

It doesn't really matter when it is. We get fed the usual stories, moan like hell and then vote for all the same directors to carry on regardless.

Scandalous..incompetant. Say what you like..it is an utter betrayal of this clubs supporters. We all have "other" things to do but an AGM date is named at the end of each years AGM.

I think it's envisaged that all or most of the board will be there so we shouldn't be subjected to that again.

There aren't lots of others putting their name forward though, so there'd be nobody else to do the jobs that need doing.

It's definatley happening.
Anyone on here with concerns get yourselves there and get your questions answered. We need to show the board we as a supporters group want answers and at the same time get our points across, they have given us the opportunity, let's not waste it!!

Perhaps it would be a good idea, especially for those who can't make it, to put any points on this thread. This meeting isn't just for members and I also think it would be good if all ages were represented.

If you can get there on Thursday, I really think the effort should be made, however fed up we might be.

Thursday Night

Post by DaveP » Tue Aug 28, 2012 4:06 pm

There has been a lot of moaning on here over the last few weeks/months some of it justified and some of it not BUT the basic point is that this is a members club where the members and fans are being largely ignored, the perception is that the finances are perilous yet the BOD retreat in to a veil of secrecy (maybe they don't know what to do about it).

There are plenty on here with lots to say and whilst these kind of meetings are usually poorly attended now is your chance boys and girls so put the keyboards away get out of your armchairs and get along to our club and have your say.

If you don't then don't come on here moaning on Friday :|

PS I appreciate there are some of you meeting up at Rakesmoor tonight to talk a few things over but please can't the rest of you turn out and let the BOD know that you really care.
