He should be ashamed of himself for that. It's all what they do as a board and stuff us the fans. Some of us have travelled thousands of miles in the last 5 seasons and spent a fortune in support of our club and you get that idiot criticising us.We have the right to say what we feel, because we care. I have respect for some, but not all. Just my opinion.
Is this guy for real! (Dave Ryder) Could he be related to Shaun? If so can someone please tell Shaun to stop feeding him 'Medication'. I've never head anything so ludicrous!

I'm sure there are zillions of non-league footballers who follow this Forum avidly... :?

Any board member slagging off fans who have paid good money to watch the drivel that has been served up for the last 4 seasons should be given a quick exit with a size 12! :sentoff:

If players reading fans forums was in some way a deciding factor on not joining that particular club then no players would want to play for any club and not just Barrow.
There are far more critical forums out there than this one.

I am sorry but having not read further than this my [SwearFilter] is boiling away at full temp etc

If any fan GENUINELY believes that any footballer will read a clubs non -official forum then decide not to sign for that club wants sectioning FFS what club who is struggling does not have lots of moaning /whinging fans on their forum, just like any club on a run has lots of fans saying they are the best thing since sliced bread, where footy fans, FICKLE is the norm with most footy fans its the nature of the beast.

Not a dig at you Boylie, just saying.

As someone said, let bygones be bygones otherwise we are just going to fall back into a them & us situation before their plan has even got into first gear.
I thought it was a "from the heart" type meeting, it started to get a little heated at times from both sides, nothing that bad but all this name calling isn't going to get us anywhere.
1990 I respect you as a fellow BAFC fan and a poster on here but...........letting bygones be bygones allows the current incumbants to carry on regardless and do what they want when they want, there has to be some accountability, For they are the stewards of OUR CLUB & accountable for their desisions good or bad is a must.

What I posted wasn't announced.
However I thought it was relevant as people like Reg are saying the club has been on the point of virtual financial collapse for the past 4 months when this hasn't been the case and nothing has been done to correct this?
The club weren't in a great state the season after the Trophy and although the financial position has improved they still have debts and have been doing something to reduce them - not nothing or letting them get worse as some have stated.
Let's not get all pedantic John. Whether or not it was 'announced' someone has obviously mentioned things which (rightly or wrongly) weren't wanted to make it onto here and have. I understand if they want to protect the clubs interests but by doing things like this it still leaves me wondering how much other stuff is being done in such a cloak and dagger way.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

Hi Mike - not trying to be provocative, but I'm not sure what you are saying here, so maybe you can clarify.

1. Are you saying that a player would be stupid to take note of comments on a forum and elect not to sign?

2. Are you saying categorically that no players have ever decided not to sign because of comments on this forum?

If your answer is (1) then I can certainly understand where you are coming from. You certainly need a thick skin to be a pro or semi-pro footballer and there's no place to hide, but there's no reason why Barrow would be any different from elsewhere.

If your answer is (2) then I'd like to know how you know this. Unless you are very close to the recruitment process and personally know the manager / chairman / board of directors and are involved in the negotiations between player and club I really don't think you can be unequivocal about it. I would be very surprised if a respected director would lie in front of witnesses at a publicly attended meeting.

There's a world of difference between (1) and (2).

This comment deserves derision. I deride you. What on earth do you imagine the BOD get out of the situation?

ST , What I am trying to say is that we are no different from the rest bar our somewhat geographical isolation in that.

A, A Player is up for grabs, he has for example 3 struggling sides vying for him, He decides to look at each clubs fan forum, do you think he would be surprised that these fans of these struggling clubs are being vocally negative ? As sure as eggs are eggs it happens through out every league in every sport in the land..........if you fail to see that then im worried for you. v

I appreciate your solicitude, but let me assure you I really don't need it from you or anyone else for that matter.

So basically you are saying is point (1) and not point (2). Fair enough - but when people get angry about a certain issue it is important there is no room for ambiguity. It's a bit of a shame you have adopted a hostile and patronising manner to me asking an honest question, but hey, that's your problem not mine. Take it easy big fella.

I genuinely don't believe that Mike. Whilst I believe (and understand) that they have their personal interests too - I don't believe everything is done just to benefit the directors - some stuff will be beneficial for the club (e.g what JL mentioned). That said - I would still prefer to see a fully transparent club so we felt more like a members club and didn't have half as much reason to snipe and it would cut down the rumours...

No idea hoss, just befuddled that over the 30 yrs following the footy seems to be the same shizz, succssesful business men come in and fail badly running the club in a business sense, they usually claim to be supporters but how can remember the Keens on the terraces.........I can not.

Exactly, they usually never tell us whats going on, then we sometimes hear from upstanding reliable sources that the club were not at fault in whatever circumstance wtf did they not come out with the facts there and then, we are not children or mushrooms.......we can handle the truth.

the more open , honest , transparent the club is with its fan base..................the more respect and support they would recieve, they don't seem to grasp this point.

That's what they were saying at the meeting, they aren't accountable to anyone but they're trying to be with the new set-up.
I'm sorry Mike (well actually I'm not) but you (with some others) seem hell bent on keeping it as a them & us situation, your not helping with some of your comments to help the BoD & us TRY to move on.
You questioned a couple of days ago what a director "got" out of a loan to the club only for someone to explain the reasoning behind it & then had to back down.
No one has posted exactly what was said last night so how do you come to all the conclusions you are doing? Putting a bit of this with a touch of that doesn't work & really doesn't help. People can carry on all night/week or for [SwearFilter] ever sniping at each other but it won't do any good.......lets move on or we wont be going anywhere because from where I'm sat there isn't a big queue of potential new directors on the horizon, thats a reality.
If you still want to have a go at them, put some substance behind your thoughts & tell me who will take over, who will do any better?
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
