Frustrating tonight.

I thought we shaded it and deserved to win but the rub of the green didn't seem to be with us!

One big gripe!

Subs. Why the hell did we wait so late to make a change? McConville was quiet for a good while before he was subbed and it's a big joke that we never unleashed Almond on tired defenders for the last 15 mins or so!

They put fresh legs on, we didn't. It makes no sense whatsoever when we have quality on the bench like we had tonight.

Tonight was our best chance of winning the tie. We didn't give ourselves the absolute best chance to take it because our manager procrastinates too long.

Big mistake IMO, lets just hope it doesn't prove to be fatal in terms of our cup run this season!

Disappointed not to win that, everyone put a great shift in but especially Adam Boyes, he was my MOM. Just really feel like that may be our chance gone, Macc were a horrible team of moaners/divers who were happy to settle for the draw fairly early in the second half. We created some brilliant chances, Baker was inches away from connecting with a free header immediatly after the start of the second half which was probably the best of the bunch, brilliant free kick he scored though. Shaun Pearson must be frustrated to be dropped again, still not sure about Hurst this season

Other teams will always get chances but the balance of the side tonight was the best I've seen this season and I'm certain that was because we played Baker / Harvey and Owen in the middle. For me, that was the most controlling game we've played at home this season- I thought we dictated the pace and were well balanced both defensively and going forward.

Lots of positive football tonight. It's a long time since I've seen Richie Baker get as many chances to get forward as he did tonight and he was desperately unlucky not to get his toe on that chance a yard out.

Almond in the last 15 minutes was tempting but I think Bayliss was reasonably happy with what he was seeing and resisted changing things because of this

But we'll do it all again on the 29th and we can win down there.

Macclesfield are struggling at the moment.
This is a comment on their web site after last Saturday's home draw with Nuneaton.

"Just like a number of our recent games. Provided the opposition don't gift us a goal, we struggle to create much.
Three observations;
1. Why don't we stop mucking about with our lineup ? Play the strongest team, please.
2. Too much passing without going anywhere.Get the ball in the XXXXXX box!
3. We still haven't got anyone to partner Barnes-Homer. Holroyd has been invisible the last few games".

They struggled to beat Hyde 3-2, after losing their previous two games 0-3 to Mansfield and 1-2 against Ebbsfleet.

Macc were [insert appropriate SwearFilter word] and no wonder they are on a bad run of form. They seemed to think they could play Barcelona style, out from the back but the were woeful at it. They could not hold the ball and had no midfield to speak of, or more to the point they were out numbered and out played by ours. Good display from the lads with team spirit high, work rate was top drawer and they made Macc look poor for most of the game. Some of their players made themselves look poor as well. Wish the ref had waved that yellow card of his at all the play acting and a fake injuries that seemed to cripple their players when they lost the ball. Players who moments later without treatment were tearing down the field without a care in the world. The ref did well to ignore most of play acting it was getting ridiculous, they were clearly trying to break up play and failing big time.

Could have handled the free kick that led to their goal a bit better... seriously does anyone really know what happened for their free kick? Ref indicated climbing but even the Macc players looked a bit confused about what it was for, but they certainly were not going to turn it down. Some of them even went as far as to claim what ever it was, it was in the box. Had to laugh when they scored, it was met with absolute silence... then a handful of Macc fans in the away end splutter into life moments latter like someone who had missed their cue. As for them hitting the bar the only other time they really looked like they might score Hurst was fouled but we got nothing and Kissock hit the bar with an open net after it was played back across goal, a real let off.

Excellent equaliser from Baker, pick that one out.

Difficult but I've seen nothing tonight that convinced me we can not win the replay, they are clearly not the side we played earlier in the season. If they are then clearly their early season form was sheer luck.

Anyone know who the stocky guy was with peo gloves before the game?

Not too sure if it was the guy I was told about but apparently we've got a goal keeping coach, probably on a short term deal or game to game & I would assume to help Hurst get a little confidence back.

Poor, poor ref who fell for just about every trick in the book by Macc, who were really dissapointing (from a Macc pov) they'll be in this league a long time on that showing.
YJO was outstanding on his return at HS. Skelts was as equally outstanding. Hessey & Peo looked solid with Hessey adding his experience to the back two. Baker had a very good game capped off with a cracker of a goal - brilliant. Boyes was......basically what we're used to now - a step above (absolutely need to keep him)

Down side, why oh why did we not bring Almond on for the last ten-fifteen min?? I like Bayles, I really do but he can't complain of not having enough players on the bench like a couple of months ago then when he does have a bench with that sort of quality he doesn't use it.

Macc support was embarrassing especially after all their moaning on their forum of conspiracy theories, tinpot club - virtually anything & everything, I've cheered louder when I've got control of my TV remote than they did when they scored.

Great effort from the lads tonight, typified by the work rate of Boyes and Baker.
These are the types of performances that win BSP games, unlike the academy style football we played against Hereford.
We competed all over the pitch for every ball in the air and on the ground and got close to them quickly.
We looked to put the ball in behind (a bit too quickly in truth) and crossed the ball from wide areas.
Skelton was excellent and so was Owen.
I'm in the camp that was calling for subs earlier, we had a decent bench and plenty of options, I hope we haven't missed our chance.
Finally I noticed their captain Brown pointing to the crowd by the tunnel when he came back out for the second-half, he then spoke to the ref, who spoke to the fourth official. I surmised this could have been a complaint perhaps due to racist abuse from a member of the crowd, the p.a announcement during the second-half would seem to back this up. Can anyone correct me or shed any more light ? In isolation the p.a announcement seemed strange.

Really enjoyed the game tonight, the effort the lads gave was nothing short of brilliant!

Macc were at the ref from the off and was disappointing that the ref seemed to fall for there play acting!

Boyes was brilliant, Skelts was outsanding and probably the best ive seen him play, he had that macreth lad in his pocket from the off and made him look....shite!

those people who did not bother to get off there fat arses to come and support there local team missed out!

They do look like a team and its about time too and Ive no doubt that relegation will not be on the agenda come May

For a referee who officiates regularly in the championship as well as football league divisions 1 and 2, I thought David Webb was abysmal.
How a player can be booked for flattening an opponent beats me.
It is either a straight red or nothing.
The offence (if there was one) for the free kick leading to the Macclesfield goal had to be inside the box as the free kick was cleared near the penalty spot.
It could not have been outside the area.
Hurst got impeded (an opponent backed into him) as he went to catch the ball, which he then dropped allowing John Paul Kissock to hit the crossbar.
His general decision making on other incidents left a lot to be desired.
I hope he is not in charge for the replay.

I don’t think Macc’s Brown has any credibility at all. He was moaning about everything all night, he got to the Ref so much that several times the official then went on to speak to individual Barrow players having taken Brown’s lengthy advice. He may have had the Ref in his pocket but the PA Announcer too? Ground breaking stuff. Brown’s wrist was heavily strapped; no prizes for guessing what caused the strain.

Booing a cheating whinging player isn't racist the colour of his skin is irrelevant - I didn't hear any shouts and I'm doubting he did. There was certainly no racist chanting as made out on the Macc forum.

I hope when it's proved that no such thing happened the FA throw the book at this player.
