Interesting attempt at mine is bigger than yours, macclad, got a problem
macclad wrote:Boyes decent targetman but journyman lower league footballer never gonna get more than 12 goals a season.
Boyes has 10 goals for Barrow so far this season and will score a lot more the 2 in the rest of the season. Last season he scored a lot more than 12 and will again this season.

Scoring goals is a real problem for us with only one recognised striker in the team. We know what our team is like and it was a very poor performance against you the other day as it was against Gateshead just before that, they can do better but they did not. You were poor as well but not as bad as we were.

How many major conurbations are with-in easy travel of Macclesfield? Our geographical position dictates our gate will not grow very big anyway, your potential is far bigger. When both our clubs were at this level back the 90's we were one of the best support clubs at this level and I recall only a few ever having better gates and Macc was not one of them, always bigger? Your living off your league experience, your gates will dwindle even further if you stay in this league and the economic situation does not improve, save your pennies.
macclad wrote:we don't pretend to be a big club as we are not the conference is our level but WE WILL ALWAYS BE BIGER THAN BARROW!
Contradiction? Your club may not think it is big (good for them) but you clearly do. Our gates were not far from your current average a few seasons ago, you have lost a lot on your gate coming down from the league. Ours are back to were they were when we were last in the BSN, lots of reasons for that. I can't be bothered to go into why, it would need it's own thread and I think it has somewhere.

Don't hold your breath waiting, you'll die. It's all relative to the success the club has had to build on. Macc has had the fortune of league football to bolster it's coffers for a good number of years. Also the transfers and cup and TV games you talk about, well done. We have had 40 years of no investment until a dodgy Chairman almost ruined us with borrowed money and then blamed us for his decisions. Count yourselves lucky. If it was not for teams (like Macc) nicking our players every season due to them having more money, we would not have to rebuild on a regular basis. We are never allowed to have a settled side, the nature of this level without money is that you can't hang on to your players if they are perceived as any good. Look at the line ups the other day you have the full 7 subs on the bench we only managed 5 as we don't have the money to support a big team, hence we are where we are because of injuries and the like.
macclad wrote:we didn't spend a penny on transfers in the summer every player was a free transfer so you just worry about avoiding relegation.
Free players... so why are you and some of your fellow fans expecting a push for promotion? Obviously you don't expect that you say this is your level, but your reference to 29th (you mean your team/club?) suggests you do? Make your mind up. You and/or your fellow supporters will be disappointed to know that it is only clubs that spend big time that get out of this league, fact. The current top six with the possible exception of Kidderminster (and they are not skint) all have the biggest budgets in this league. They also had to spend to buy the best players as free players at this level are rarely promotion material, no coincidence they are at the top and Macc are not. Thanks for pointing it out what we should be doing but at the same time as we are responding to you we are worrying about avoiding relegation (men can multi-task

) and in January will likely be doing something about it.
Yes I took the bait and bit.
