Well, where do I start? I thought the Furness Select XI played wonderfully well, you can't take anything from them at all. Of course I have to have a bit of a boast as it was my son Jordan Chubb that scored the winning goal (I taught him that!!!!!).

I thought a few of the Barrow lads looked okay, Eddy was good, as he should be, Moyo was okay at best, Meeks did well, keeper looked comfortable enough. Not the best showing but it's about fitness at this stage.

The FSXI didn't get an opportunity to train together, but they all do train with their respective clubs, and they do train well. I thought they looked great, hard to tell which was the semi pro team today. And of course did I mention my son got the winning goal?

Can you get me your lads autograph Dave, I wil pay good money for it.

Been a lot of talk about the pitch recently.
How did it fare up today?
Was it bobbly?

If we have ever had a decent pre-season results wise the season itself has usually turned out pretty poor or average. Not always the case but most pre-seasons at the very least it takes a few games to get going. 1-0 is nothing, a team of locals looking to prove themselves and really up for it against a team of players trying to get fit, told not to get injured and the like. To read anything in to today's result is shocking in itself. If we continue to loose and don't start looking decent enough performance wise towards the end of the friendlies or we loose all pre-season friendlies without hope a la Kettering, then panic! Otherwise play the waiting game and let them get to know each other.

We are likely to have an average mid-table season anyway as most newly formed sides usually don't hit the ground running. Nor do they win promotion unless they pay over the odds for their players and that it not us.

Local players trying to prove themselves! And so should of our triallists.

In all honesty, if we are going to keeping on over looking local lads in favour of what was on show yesterday, then the club has serious issues. It's all very well doc etc setting up the youth structure but while people like Bayliss are in charge it's pointless.

Like it or not, deny it if you like but there is becoming an increasing frustration about this among local clubs. As I mentioned before, nobody is saying they are BSN standard, but they are better than players that are being brought in for trials. If some of them players don't get a shout for a trial, Bayliss can shove my season ticket up his backside.

Massive over reaction to what was just a training exercise in JULY. Play this same fixture 10 times and yesterdays team would come out on top against the local lads probably 8 out of the 10.

I expect the Gateshead fixture to end in defeat as well, bearing in mind the quality of players they have recruited. The negetivity on here will be in meltdown on Wednesday night. It's early July, it's pre-season, nothing more.

Sadly Jordan Chubb broke his foot and leg last night, the highs and lows of playing football in 24 hours.

That's a cruel blow. However knowing Jordan there will be no knocking him down. He has great plans for the footballing world.

I had a good walk over the pitch before the match on Saturday and to say it needs some serious TLC is a vast understatement. It's very rough in places, patchy and lumpy. It'll have to be spiked, raked and dressed but when will the groundsman will have chance to do that?

Report on another thread says it's been watered since Saturday, I'll have another look on Tuesday before the Gatesheed match.

Snorts we will be watering it on a daily basis but only the new turfed areas unless me and Les can rig something up to do it all.

Apologies for the day/date error thing, my calendar is chocker at the moment what with my son's school trips to Lancaster Uni and cricket training/matches and my footie/first aid commitments.

I wonder how long it would've took me to realise I was a day early if I pitched up on Tuesday, not Wednesday
