Yes this is another thing I don't agree with this young person is taken to every away game on the team bus taken into boardrooms etc., yet another directors son is not.johnbafc4life wrote:the dumbwitness wrote:Just out of interest, who's the new kid suited and booted sat in the directors box today, looks to be very young, have the BOD opened a youth wing?
It is Russell dodd's lad, Matthew. He is always there to be honest.

Matthew works hard for the club behind the scenes, doing bits of office work and generally being a gopher when stuff needs doing.optomisticsupporter wrote:Yes this is another thing I don't agree with this young person is taken to every away game on the team bus taken into boardrooms etc., yet another directors son is not.johnbafc4life wrote:

He's an asset to the club, I wish I'd had his work ethic at that age!

And? That is his job, it is expected. It's called real life.whitty1969 wrote:He put in over 40 hours last week Chief, What have the others put in?
Then you get him painting walls in the stadium at 8am on a Sunday morning. He gets there before the Maint team and he travels for an hour!!!!!!
Time to back off John, If we had 6 more of him on the board we would be discussing yesterday's dismal performance on the pitch instead !!!!!
What would Jesus do?

Elaine VOLUNTEER'S to clean at the ground, is that her job?
People VOLUNTEER to work on improving the ground, is that their job?
Peter, Richard & others VOLUNTEER their service's to the BDF, is that their job?
John VOLUNTEER'S to be a director, it's not his job!
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Why do it if you can't handle it and don't want to put the time in? It is stupid. He knew what the role entailed. It is a Football clubspirit of 1990 wrote:How is that his job?patrickstarfish wrote: And? That is his job, it is expected. It's called real life.

Re: Missing
I have to say I have my own issues with John about other matters and yes his manner sometimes leaves a lot to be desired but to criticise the amount of time and effort he puts in is simply stupid.
Perhaps some of his time should be better spent on other matters but to question the number of hours put in by a volunteer Director is totally ridiculous.

+1, though not sure anyone actually has criticised him for the amount of time and effort he puts in?DaveP wrote:I have to say I have my own issues with John about other matters and yes his manner sometimes leaves a lot to be desired but to criticise the amount of time and effort he puts in is simply stupid.
I think alot of this is being taken out of context on both sides and the BOD are seeing disappointment with the way things are being done as personal attacks on them, so it's creating a "them and us" scenario when in actual fact it should be all of us together against the issues we're facing.
Case in point, John Mackay was saying how he'd put up a post saying what was happening with the shirts and people attacked him for doing this and sharing this info. The criticism wasn't a personal attack at him for posting this, but a criticism of the fact the shirts themselves were late.
Re: Missing
I agree Ste but our colleague Patrickstarfish seems to think the hours he puts in are a topic for debate hence my response.
There is a lot of frustration around at the moment and an awful lot being said either in the wrong way or which probably shouldn't be said at all.
We all have Barrow AFC interests at heart lets just all calm down a bit and be a bit more understanding of everyone else's viewpoint.

I think that's a very good post Ste, it won't help us all leaving common sense at the door because we are frustrated.
There's too much them and us at the moment, IMO we need to hold people to account in a sensible way, and directors need to understand that that isn't personal critcism. It's a two way street.

Re: Missing
In my eyes a ' fans liaison rep' should be elected by the fans and not the board. I don't think anybody is criticising the time and effort he puts in. The problem I have is the way he talks to people, it's like being back in school. Some of the stuff he was coming out with in the xbar was absolutely ridiculous.

Being a Head Master is hard to forget ......
Re: Missing
Being a headmaster should give you enough of a concept of balancing the wants and needs of a variety of stakeholders to achieve a harmonious outcome.
Teachers, students, parents, governers, the county council, the media
Players, fans, staff, board, the Football Conference, the media
What's the difference? You treat different people in different ways according to their status, input and what they take away from a school, just the same as football.
Or to put it another way: show me a headteacher who can't speak without being condescending, and I'll show you a bad headteacher.
