If you can pm me an address we'll try & get someone to pick them up in the morning, the scrap man might even do it for us.observer 1979 wrote:Ian I have an old fridge if any good for scrap. Also an old bike and a garden swing. This is good enough to sell possibly. Could they be picked up from Rakesmoor Lane.

Re: Ground maintenance area
Cracking turn-out of thirteen (& one little un) in the end.
Thanks to Dave for bringing some scrap down, Malcolm (the scrap man) & Ryan for helping load the van up. Everything from my drive & the GMA was taken away & weighed-in & he'll be back next week for the remaining scrap metal tucked away in the HSE toilets.
Ian (white van joiner) was busy starting the new flooring in the GMA which we now need simply because of how much kit we have in there. Once that's done we can really start to rearrange everything in there & make it a more professional looking workshop & easier for us to carry out job's & not be getting in each others way.
Exile & Tommy were in the BDF shop doing all the prep work for the plastering around the door, thanks again to Exile who bought all the materials & wouldn't take any cash off us.
Got to say the BDF shop is looking massively better since various people have been in there over the summer doing all sorts of jobs.
Elaine was her usual busy self pottering around picking up litter (well once she'd stopped talking to everyone & keeping them off their various job's
)
Myself, Tommy, Barrowfan_Chris, Louie, Louie's lad, Barrowranger & Ian (red van joiner) went through to Askam to pick up the new gates that we've just bought to replace the old goosed one's on the pop side by the turnstiles. A big job this one & bloody heavy, that's why so many had to come through to help load them up.
Not going to be easy at all fixing these in place but that'll wait now till a bit later in the year.
We also had a quick tidy up of bit's & piece's around the ground, Steve brought all the spare wood that we had left over from the cladding back into the GMA. All the spare materials will eventually go into the third bay where they can be stored in racks & used if we ever need them, it's starting to look like a second hand B&Q in there!
Exile & Ryan also took all the contact details of the advertising boards that haven't gone back up. Hopefully this week after speaking with TK about the cost etc we can start to see if anyone is willing to re-sponsor. This will fall to my wife who volunteered (well I say "volunteered")
) to ring up each company rather than just e-mail or send a letter as that way seems to have been failing massively, which is quite apparent by the amount actually put back up. Fingers crossed that this will work & put some money back into the club.

Re: Ground maintenance area
Many thanks to Wintergreen as the leak has now been repaired. Well done as it wasn't a straightforward job (what is).
Exile helped me to renew some of the chippings around the base of the wall as the ones that were there had stained black from the leakage. The thriving vegetation was also removed. Les did say he would miss the icicles in the winter but we can get him some artificial ones.
The carpet that had been disposed off has now been placed in the skip as we need that area to be cleared for the Non League day on Saturday. The sand and chippings I will move to a less prominent place this week if I have time.
The empty paint tins and buckets etc outside the stewards cabin look as if they are going to be a permanent fixture as they obviously don't want to remove them as they have been there for a good few weeks now.
Now we are into September we need to organise what work is the most important as the weather will be deteriorating and outside work will be restricted.
I was not stood talking---I was organising!!!!

Re: Ground maintenance area
The plastering in the shop is now done and looks spot on
Me and exile are planning on doing the plastering in the board room on Tuesday
But we'll need keys for gma store to get plaster and trowel out
I'll pm you and arrange about keys mate. The whole ground looks really well
And I'll be sad to see the back of young Ryan what a belting young man he is
And Ryan has put in a lot of hours down there and made a diffence
See you next year mate and take care

Re: Ground maintenance area
I fogot to mention something in my earlier post so I'll do it now.
Ryan (Bahamasbluebird) goes back to a sunnier part of the world tomorrow as it's getting a little chilly for him here now September has arrived.
Just want to thank him for all the help he's given us at the ground the last couple of months. He's not only been there on Sundays but during the week as well & whatever job he got left he just plodded on with it. On top of that he's delivered (on his bike) AGM & membership letters all around the town which has no doubt saved the club a small fortune.
Enjoy your holiday away from HS Ryan & we'll see you next year when the jobs will have built up once again

Re: Ground maintenance area
At the AGM the other night Suzanne mentioned that not all of those who renewed their advertising hoarding had heir hoarding put back up. I know that 2 had to be scrapped as they were beyond repair so it may be worth checking if any more still need to go back up. Doesn't Ryan have a list from Suzanne of all the ones who do need to go back up or more need to be made?spirit of 1990 wrote:Exile & Ryan also took all the contact details of the advertising boards that haven't gone back up. Glad that your better half can ring round the companies who haven't renewed their hoardings, hope we can get some to be renewed.

Re: Ground maintenance area
I had a copy of that list John & this is why I'm more than confused at what Suzanne said, somewhere along the line wires have got crossed because we put up every single one on that print out. I actually gave Ryan the list so it's the same one.John Very Little wrote:At the AGM the other night Suzanne mentioned that not all of those who renewed their advertising hoarding had heir hoarding put back up. I haven't a clue about who hasn't had a board put back up that has paid because I've had no more info since the weekend before the first game. Even more bizarre is the fact we put all the boards up we were asked to - then told one had to come down!
I'm hoping that with one person (my missus) actually speaking to each "sponsor" that we'll have a better idea who is willing to re-new & we'll go from there.
If Suzanne has any other names that have paid we'll have them up asap, I'll even go down on Tuesday evening to try & get them up before Saturdays game, but if no one tells us that can't be our fault.

Re: Ground maintenance area
Just done a couple of quiet hours on the changing room modules tonight in the workshop and noticed all the lights on in the BDF shop but door locked and no one around or cars parked......also the away changing room lights were on ....maybe its time to get those censor lights in the BDF shop and other areas what go out after 15 mins....save the club a fortune.......having a pee in maccy dees the other night how do those waterless urinals work....we already have one on the popular side!!!
are they both expensive...little project for someone
also if any painters down this week there are 2 full sheets of MDF and 4 half sheets all marked up require painting white to a high standard on one side
these are the back boards for the changing room modules and must look spot on....can you pass this on to Graham, Elaine in case hes not on the forum or anyone who fancies doing them

Re: Ground maintenance area
Sensor lights would be cheap enough to do, just introduce these between the switch and the bulb.....mrsenario wrote:Just done a couple of quiet hours on the changing room modules tonight in the workshop and noticed all the lights on in the BDF shop but door locked and no one around or cars parked......also the away changing room lights were on ....maybe its time to get those censor lights in the BDF shop and other areas what go out after 15 mins....save the club a fortune.......having a pee in maccy dees the other night how do those waterless urinals work....we already have one on the popular side!!!

The cleaning lady may have been in doing the changing rooms as she is a keyholder and does go on a Sunday night sometimes.

Re: Ground maintenance area
Good job you mentioned the lights in the BDF shop Tommy as it wasn't obvious in the daylight that they were on. The light in the changing room was in the passage to the away room. The people who were running the matches yesterday must have left that on.
Two stewards were painting the crash barriers on the popular side today and they look much improved. They also removed the empty paint tins etc from outside their cabin.

Well I know you need them boards painting if anyone can help you with that. They're in the GMA so it doesn't matter what the weathers like.mrsenario wrote:Tomorrow (tuesday)will open up at 6.00pm ish if anyone fancies a couple of hours grafting down the ground...all kinds of things to do inside and out.

We need all the spare cladding sheet's bringing from the away fans disabled area to the GMA.
A template needs making for the sheeting by the new path so we can get something made to cover them holes that might be causing the leeks in the home changing rooms.
Turnstile C needs it's door planing & painting blue if the weather is fine.
GMA door needs painting blue (weather permitting again)
All the spare or old advertising boards need bringing from behind the burger van to be stored in the GMA.
The tops of the cladding need all the whizzer screws putting in.
That enough
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
