Club Statement
Re: Club Statement
For anyone under 30, Daz and Dave provided the most success that we can ever remember for Barrow. In charge for 259 matches across both spells - that makes Bayliss our second longest lived manager.
The Brentford cup win was the best night for me - watched it in a pub in the North-East and then went home and watched it again on Sky Plus. It was such a new thing to see Barrow playing at such a high quality, and to have a small rise in profile as well.
It's a shame that this decision wasn't made at least 6 months ago (maybe slightly more), but hopefully we can build and won't have to wait another 30 years for similar success!

Football is about results and sadly despite his best efforts Dave has not produced. That said I want to express my Thanks and wish DB all the best for whatever he chooses to do. Since 1958 when I first went to HS we have had some awful managers Brian Kidd being the most high profile so DB walk away with our head held high.

Yes it's about results, yet in another thread you want Darren Edmondson.MDC1958 wrote:Football is about results and sadly despite his best efforts Dave has not produced. Corrected it for you.32mile_cul-de-sac wrote: Bayliss and Shez's record here will take some beating if ever.
The only success Bayliss had was with Shez not on his own. So lets thank both.

Re: Club Statement
12 months too late. It would have been easier to get a decent manager as a team towards the bottom of the conference rather than a team towards the bottom of conf North.
Great as part of a duo, shite on his own.
Despite the success D & D had, the club has been left in a worse position than when they took over. Life will be difficult for the new gaffer.

Aren't we in roughly the same position as when they took over?
Finances aside... that's the responsibility of the board, not the manager.

DB has to take some blame for the finances due to signing shite players and attendances dropping due to his shit football.

Re: Club Statement
Sad to see Bayliss leave in the way he has especially as he cared so much about the club and he'll be remembered for his reign with Sheridan when we had promotion, the great FA Cup runs and the Trophy win at Wembley. I always thought DB was the senior partner of the two.
Sadly all good things come to an end and he stayed longer than he should have done - I think the job was affecting him to the point it was making him unwell so I hope this will be for the best for both Bayliss and the club in the long run.
However I'm still unhappy with some board members actions in the past few months over the DB situation for the way they've tried to cover-up, mis-lead us and have a go at the fans, never mind the finance issues I think they are also partly responsible for and we shouldn't forget that.

Re: Club Statement
Gutted it never worked for him. His passion for the club was the greatest thing. He really hurt when we got beat and never shouted from the roof or got above his station when we won. I liked that part of him. Sadly he could never get a team that could consistently perform and some players just couldn't do it after he gave them chance after chance. Some crucial results that have gone the other way this season and were literally a post or a golden opportunity wasted. But I guess you can only take these thigs so far. Best of luck Bayles. 2008-2011 were quite simply the best 3 seasons I've ever had in 20 years of supporting Barrow and the 4-0 win over Fleetwood was probably the best footballing display I have ever seen from any Barrow side. But as someone said, it was looking back all the time and it feels a long time ago now. Thanks for these memories.

Dave Bayliss
So Dave is leaving.
The last eighteen months have not been good ever since Bath at home in 2011, so I understand why he's going, and there is a general consensus that now is a time for change. So while Dave's career at Barrow has not ended well, let's not forget the success we have enjoyed during his time. Promotion to the Conference, 3rd Round FA Cup matches against premiership sides Middlesborough and Sunderland, and of course the FA Trophy victory at Wembley being the highlights. So Dave thank you for the good times, sorry it's ended in tears, and good luck for the future.

Re: Club Statement
Having read all comments on this thread I want to reiterate what many (but not all) have said and dedicate many thanks and best wishes to Bayles for the future.
I hold my hands up and admit that I was in the camp of those who were happy to see Dave stay on this season but events in the last 3 months have clearly shown that to be the wrong decision. The facts speak for themselves; it’s not simply that the results are so bad but the manner of the performances. Workington are struggling too but whereas they could still knock 4 past opponents last Saturday I don’t ever feel hopeful that we will score even one goal in any match (leaving aside the amateurs we beat in the FA Cup). The football has been utterly sterile and without hope. And of course, all the aforesaid is incriminating enough without needing to mention altercations with fans which finally made his position untenable.
It’s sickening though; although it is clearly and unquestionably right that he goes, I don’t doubt the passion Dave had for the cause and the good intention to make Barrow a successful club. So despite his grave mistakes he goes with my best wishes.
It’s a sad fact of life that, in all the years I’ve watched Barrow, market forces dictate that any good times we have are soon followed by a mighty fall. First there were the glory days of 1965-1969 followed by the crash into obscurity; then, in non-league days, five promotions followed by five subsequent demotions. I cannot see how that can ever change (unless a rich benefactor appears from the mists) because market forces and the resources at our disposal deem it to be an almost inevitable pattern. So, in that perspective, our successes are unlikely and doomed to be short-lived whereas the subsequent falls are highly predictable. So thanks very much for the good times Dave and, whilst not making excuses for the bad times because you definitely didn’t help yourself this season, it is not surprising that there has been a downturn since we as a club fight against the tide each and every day. Let’s just hope that somehow an inspired new manager can take us on another upturn before, in due course, he too starts to crash and burn. Apologies if this is pessimistic, I just happen to see it as realistic perspective on the best we can ever hope for.

Re: Club Statement
i think you are spot on,bayliss in my eyes became too passionate and because of this i think this clouded his judgement because if you ever spoke with him he seemed to know what the problems were (but there again we don`t know what goes on behind the scences!).
