The board continue to have ago at fans which is why people are slowly get in fed up of it see my post in the other thread about the segregation for my thoughts.

When directors openly lie about things not including you in this pete then things have to change.

First game against Oxford the season we got back into the conference trouble was in the Tally ho.

The reason away supporters got moved was nothing to do with the police it was to do with the fact corporate supporters had to walk past away fans.

Yes, it will involve a corner of the Holker End.
Kieran wrote: Sorry Pete, but I just don't buy your/the board's reasoning. Theres been flashpoints outside the Holker End too, most notably against Newport a couple of seasons ago. If idiots want to create trouble they can do it anywhere. Are you saying the Police have insisted the Holker End be used? If so that hasn't been true in the past when the club have told us it has. There is absolutely no reason why the West Terrace can't be used safely, as it has done hundreds of times in the past. My belief is that certain members of the board are refusing to back down on this issue out of sheer stubborness, and it stinks. I really don't believe that the board realise how much damage issues like this are doing. On one hand they ask for support and crowds to come back, then on the other they are flying in the face of tradition and going against what people want. Is it any wonder people are [SwearFilter] off?
I'm happy to sit down with anyone and explain the reasoning behind this. It's not it a case of anyone being stubborn, or trying to stamp authority, it's about safety and managing risks. I appreciate that sounds like a standard response but the boring fact is that managing any risks had to be one of the main considerations when organising a game where there is even a slight risk of something going pear shaped.

I do think a lot of damage has been done with this decision over the years, most noteably about four years ago when it really caused a lot of trouble between club & fans & I honestly don't think much has been learnt from then by the club.
If this is entirely down to police advice then I don't suppose much can be done about it - if anything, but I'll still stick by the thought that the West terrace is fine for any away support, especially the amount Wukkie will be bringing, probably even better them being penned in a smaller area.

Kierans post has also made me think of something else, will there be plenty of stewards in amongst the Wukkie support as there is quite a potential for a bit of damage being done to the cladding/plaques & HSE sign by any of them that feel like going on a wrecking spree.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

The board really do understand that this is an issue people feel strongly about. Please don't think I'm not acutely aware of that.

When looking at segregation, we are fairly tied by the authorities and essentially have to follow advice given. The west terrace simply isn't suitable for away fans as in the past the car park by reception has been a flash point (York at home a few years ago) and there has been issues having a away fans underneath the windows for the bar. The HSE is also the easiest place from a control perspective to get the away fans in and out of the ground as quickly as possible.

The only way to totally mitigate any risks is to have them at the HSE, and the new segregation should be in place early 2014 so this should be the last time this happens.

I know I'll probably get shot down, but the club, the safety officer and Police are liable if anything goes wrong, so we have to make unpopular decisions sometimes. It's not something that's done lightly.

In a nutshell that's the reasoning behind the decision.

Pete, I like you a lot. You're an incredibly good man trying to do a shit job at the worst time but please, don't become TK's mouthpiece/stooge.

What you have written above could have come straight from the keyboard of TK as it's almost word for word what he and the police said to us years ago. It was bullshit then and it still is now.

I'm not coming right now, so quite rightly, you could just tell me to knob off, or at least think that to yourself but I'm saying that to you as a pal, not a disillusioned stay-away.

You went in the board to try and make a difference. Please don't allow yourself to become the person who wheels out the bad news and turn into the Iraqi information minister.

I am sorry peter using the York game as a example .it is not right ,what happened that day was mostly down to barrow police when a barrow fan got punched by a York fan and then went up to one off barrow police to tell him what had happened as usual they did nothing and that is what they do all the time and you as a board are to weak to say to them this is what we want not what they tell you to do all the time and then yous come out with what you have again again and as yous did when I got ban you were not willing to do any think to upset them .it is like when away fans have run on the pitch barrow police do [SwearFilter] all to them but if it was a barrow fan they would off got banned and you as a board will do [SwearFilter] all again time for the board to get some [SwearFilter] balls . This is not directed at you peter but to the board as a whole

Indeed surely in terms of flash points the HSE is more dangerous in that you spill out straight onto a busy junction, resulting in the trouble after Newport where a random car in traffic was attacked.

Oh and for those complaining at the odd dint/mark on that fancy new cladding I cant wait to see what sort of state it will be in if a few of workingtons idiots travel...

Not arsed about the cladding no offence but the plaques could be taken and our stewards are too soft to stop people.

If anyone is caught damaging property they should be removed but I doubt it will happen.

Thats something I said to a few people at the Alty game, but didn't want to post it in case some of their idiots read it and it put ideas in their heads. There is huge potential for that to happen, and our stewards wouldn't stand a chance of preventing it and probably wouldn't even try.

I don't go in the holker end anymore but the decision can't have been made on safety grounds because twice when we have had "fans" that are considered a risk,i have been threatened by newport fans then when we played fleetwood we had the police harrassing barrow fans with dogs as we made our way home across the bridge(as if dodging the traffic isn't enough!)
I actually confronted a well known local plod about these issues but he just tried to fob me off!
This decision is ill thought, ill conceived and ill planned!

The only reason away fans don't go in the west terrace is so that the directors and their hangers on don't have to walk through them to their seats

This doesn't have the same emotional resonance for me as it was uncovered and pretty rubbish by the time I got here. I didn't grow up on the HSE.

But a later York game (The same season as Newport) they had the Holker End a group of them were allowed to walk unchallenged from the Tally Ho past the ground, through the car park and towards the Soccer Bar, where there was then a confrontation for which yet another Barrow fan was banned.

When Wrexham came, with about 30-40 lads coked to the gills looking for a fight, the season after, that was also in the Holker Street End and I don't recall many arrests there among the away support.

Rightly or wrongly, issues surrounding the whole way of controlling and monitoring matchdays in Barrow frustrate many. Firstly, the taking of a traditional home end for reasons of ease for police and directors over many of the home fans, for no discernible improvement of safety sticks in the throat of many traditional long standing supporters. Secondly, the widely held perception that local lads are targeted for arrest at the expense of the away fans has damaged relationships between elements of the support and authorities signficantly.

However, given the rain, you'd have to be a special kind of masochist to want to stand on it today
