Glad to be home and warm again. Not a day for footy.

Thought a horrible weather influenced mistake would lead to a goal and happy for a draw in the end.

Thought we had a good shout for a pen (handball) 2nd half but there was no way he was going to give it.

Poor game to watch, played mostly down the main stand side due to the wind carrying it that way all the time. It was not for lack of effort of either team but the weather. Would likely have been a good game if not for the driving wind gusts that were constantly changing direction. Crowd got on the back of the players a few times but the conditions were terrible and I think they were expecting too much. When not under direct control of a player the ball ran away with the wind, and the surface was sticky preventing players from turning quickly and adjusting for the movement of the ball. It was so bad the ball was rolling away from players at free kicks and goal kicks, Reynolds miss kicked one near the end with Barrow pressing, it started to roll as he kicked it.

A clean game no cards but a lot of free kicks for minor fouls. The Leamington keeper took an age over goal kicks in the 1st half and ref added 3 minutes onto the 1st half, he told him at one point to get on with it but I'm not sure he heard it due to the wind. A clear hand ball in the 2nd was the only really controversial moment, it bounced up and hit his hand from what I could see. This allowed Leamington to clear the ball instead of it bouncing over the defender. Was hand ball and as Barrow we always seem to have these given against us, but it would have been harsh in the conditions.

Barrow created most of the chances. Both teams chased lost causes a lot with the ball running out of play most of the time. Both sides can be happy with a point in the conditions. Arnison went unnoticed all match the huge centre half and two towering midfielders in front of him winning almost everything ahead of him all afternoon. Rushton got little chance to run at the defence until just before he was taken off. Cribley looked disappointed to be taken off when we switched to 4-4-2. Defences of both teams stood up well despite a few mix ups.

Boring game, shit weather ruined any chance of any quality from either side really. Ref was pretty good too so can't even complain about that.

File under boring 0-0 and move on to Oxford Tuesday.

Well that was bloody cold!!

Poor game to watch with that swirling wind & freezing rain but a point a piece was probably fair, even though we slightly edged the chances.
Hard to pick any outstanding (or even decent) moves as players from both sides couldn't judge the wind but as above we probably shaded the better of the moves during the match.
Can't remember McMillan being forced into anything other than an odd catch (although he nearly got caught out with the ball at his feet late on)

Decent ref & linesman (& woman - nice ;) ) who as far as I saw never gave out a card as he seemed to take into consideration the conditions the game was being played in.

Decent gate, which was good to see with the weather being so bad.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Now I`ve warmed up that was a good point considering the horrible weather, supporters who were moaning about the game did you like
your nice walk home in the wind and rain. Good point, decent crowd now move on to Oxford, up to 13th.

Wind prevented a good game of football. I'll take the point, anythings better than a loss.

I didn't think the game was too bad considering the conditions, strong wind and sticky pitch. Both teams tried to pass it about as best they could although I thought we had more of the ball second half and looked more likely to score. Neither keeper had a lot to do but it was far from a bore draw.

We have a lot more grit about us these days and whereas a month or so ago I was expecting to conceded every time the ball came into our box, now I am expecting us to defend and clear it. We are getting blocks in, winning more headers and tackles and winning the ball back quicker from the opposition. Credit to O'Donnell and Williams who were awful earlier in the season, O'Donnell in particular but who have barely put a foot wrong the last couple of games. Reynolds also bar one or two slips has been solid.

Still not convinced by Cribley and I think he's a player that maybe isn't suited to this league and certainly pitches like today, although he does have ability. Arnison looked livelier upfront and a goal would get him going I think as he seems to be a confidence player.

Overall a good point against not a bad Leamington side, we would have lost that game six weeks ago and the progress made since then has been remarkable really - credit to Darren Edmondson and also the players themselves who have turned things around.

I disagree with the Cribley bit - I believe he has a good ability and has turned in some good performances which have definitely played a part in our revival.

Cribley has that edge of unpredictability that allows him to go past players with the ball in a tight situation. He has the skill but maybe not the experience, it also leads him to give the ball away in dangerous positions as he tries to play his way out of a situation which really needs the route one safety option, or launch the ball as Alan Hanson often says. Kenny Lowe used to get caught in a similar situation, he cost us a few goals giving it away doing his drag back on occasion. I think what Cribley brings to the team out weights the negative, he'll learn. He did look like he was struggling with the conditions today but everyone was.

A very long day to watch a game ruined by a stiff cross breeze towards the main stand. Finally got back in the warm just after midnight having left just after 5am this morning.

Taking the positives we kept the current undefeated run going and battled hard though I don't think we pressed Leamington as well today as we have been doing recently and this has been the driver behind recent results. The lads at the back looked solid in the main with Burns in particular really putting in a shift once again. We lacked creativity in midfield today and Cribley and Rushton really struggled to get anything going in the conditions. I thought Arni contributed well and despite a lack of any quality service created a few chances out of nothing.

I hope the game on Tuesday is on but we need some fine weather down this way between now and then to have any chance as it seems like it hasn't stopped raining for about 3 weeks.

Cant really knock any of the players (from both sides)trying to play in them conditions.decent gate for a bad day.And i thought the couple of boo,s at the end were just fans being light hearted at the lousy weather.Fair result in the end.
Seasons to be cheerful.Part 16 3/4 :skill:

One of the very few visiting teams to leave the away changing room immaculate. Having cleaned up after themselves they get my vote as it is a quick change around for the cleaning as the Under 18's play tomorrow.
Off down there today to make a start on them.
Thanks Leamington.

Got back just in time for Match of the Day. I thought it was the "softie southerner" in me which found it so damn cold, but speaking to a few of the locals it's not always as grim as that :D

As has been said already, impossible conditions to even attempt to play football in. Thankfully the Met Office 80%+ chance of heavy showers never materialised. A 0v0 was probably fair to both teams. The first real open play chance that I recall fell to us in about the 80th minute but it's hard to count a soft header which the goal collected in his arms like a defensive "nod" as anything to get over-excited about. You had two or three free-kicks in the first half from scoring range with the wind and the one occasion where one of our lads in the wall stopped it on his bare thigh must have stung a bit.

Nice to hear that we left the changing rooms as everyone should. We have had some real messy teams visit the New Windmill with damage occurring to the benches therein on more than one occasion. I've passed on your appreciation to our Chairman.

Look forward to seeing you guys down at ours in the next few weeks.

Terrible weather conditions with that swirling wind. I thought we just shaded it but said to sister i'd be happy with a point at half time as it keeps the unbeaten run going.

Bought a Barrow scarf from the club shop. I don't normally buy them to be honest but as i live 2 miles from Fleetwood i thought i'd antagonise the locals a bit.
Young Elliot at work still doesn't know how his Fleetwood Town scarf keeps ending up in the bin. ;)
