I've spoken with Trev a couple of days ago Elaine & he's sorting it with Sinkfall recycling this weekend. They've really helped us out this last fourteen months by not charging us a penny for all the skips we've used. Another local company who have helped us out with the stuff we do at the ground.Holkerbird wrote:If Trevor Jones is reading this I noticed the skip needs emptying again if you could be so kind as to arrange that we would be much obliged and thanks.

Is the club able to repay that kindness in some way? Does Sinkfall get free advertising somewhere?spirit of 1990 wrote:I've spoken with Trev a couple of days ago Elaine & he's sorting it with Sinkfall recycling this weekend. I was just thinking the same. I don't know how big an organisation they are, but perhaps free match tickets for their staff - may even have spin-off benefits by encouraging them to become regular supporters. If local businesses do the club a favour, we should do the same for them.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
I also think if anyone is after a skip it's well worth people on here using Sinkfall Recycling as our way of thanking them, their prices are as good as any of the others.
My family have needed one ourselves in the last couple of weeks & we went to Sinkfall.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
I was told by a steward yesterday they caught a man trying to get in yesterday under the wire meshing, as they were stopping lads from climbing over in another spot. The sooner all these perimeters are as secure as we can make them, the better.
Ian I have £10 to give you from someone in the Xbar yesterday. See p.m.
There's also a leak from the first sink in the gents porta toilets near the maintenance workshop and the Ladies toilet ceiling is leaking in the Xbar if anyone can sort them out please.
It might be a good idea if someone was delegated to check round the ground the day before a match to make sure there's no outstanding issues that need sorting as it was only by chance I noticed the flooded dugouts and it is leaving it late to sort these things on match day.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Just a reminder for those interested, there'll be a visit to the ground on Sunday morning starting at 9:00am (or just turn up whenever) till dinnertime(ish)
As usual plenty to do -
General tidy of the ground.
Brickie (think Tommy abc is away so we need help on that one)
Re-assembling of the garage for Gareths ground equipment.
Demolishing of a porta cabin.
Press box upgrade.
GMA tidy-up.
Desperate for sparks to start on the extra lighting in the GMA.
A tidy-up of some steel fencing by the stewards cabin.
Loads more to do as well.
I suppose most of the morning will be spent discussing the potential takeover so it should be interesting from that point of view alone.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Damn that Casson fella! he's must've kidnapped all our volunteers!
Nine at the ground today which included three students.
Ian RVJ & Peter Nichols carried on with the cracking job they're making of the press box makeover. First half of the box is now nearly all internally cladded with insulation behind most of it. There is a kitchen worktop now fitted along the rear & underneath that is now boarded out.
Exile litter picked the whole ground single handedly & was still there when the last of us were going at 12:30. Between Exile, Holkerbird & Biggest fans they must have picked up enough litter in the last twelve months to top up a land fill site on their own!
Boyliegladbach turned & said "what wants demolishing" as there were'nt really enough there to start on the "careful dismantling" of the old ticket office we asked him & two of the students to carry on with the digging out of the new wall foundations. I said you can either use the hammer & chisel on the tougher concrete type areas or you can get the electric jack hamm.......Al was on his way back to the GMA to get it before I'd finished saying it
& away they went!!
I think all of that is now done & half of Wilkie Rd has holes in it.
The other Student was let loose on the storm damaged wall that Tommy is struggling to do with being away. I never got to see how it looked up close but it cetainly looked ok as I drove past it.
Sorry, I can't remember their names but I think mrssenorita has them so perhaps she can post them. They've really got stuck in the last three visits & done a cracking job of that area of the ground.
Myself & mrssenorita tried to get the pop side shop a bit closer to being finished. We took the old counter out that ran the length of the cabin & split it into two so now they have a counter to serve from behind with a lift up section for access, they also have another section running behind them for storage with some shelving on top of that. It needs a few finishing touches (paint, cleaning) but it looks a lot better & should suit the people who serve in there better as well.
Les was also there early on cleaning the kits that Russ Rawley dropped off for him from yesterday.
Mr Casson, can we have our leccys back please

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Well done to Exile for litter picking, and there was a lot to pick, and it is back breaking work. It looked immaculate when I arrived today and I hope all the litter that blows down Wilke Road from Holker St doesn't drift into the ground. The pitch looked good in the sunshine and compared to some we have seen whilst on our travels (and ours this time last season) it is due to the hard work of Gareth and Craig.
Gareth did say some boards have blown down over the popular side somewhere but not sure where. Not on the pitch anyway.
