If the pies were from Deli.sh then they would be awesome, not crap. I buy them from there to take to the game because the catering has been bloody atrocious at the ground for many years. It really is shocking at what is served up as food. There is no way on earth they would serve it to their families at home. And is it beyond reasonable expectation to not have milk, sauce, sugar, manky spoons etc...all in one big, soggy pile outside the van? It really is shameful and has been overlooked as inconsequential for too long.Steeley wrote:Not arsed about pies at the game me.
Sometimes will get a burger, usually crap. If i got a pie, would probably be crap.
I reckon the people who are arsed about pies get one from wherever before the game and eat it or take it in. No biggie.

Re: Talk sport now
Last time I had a cup of tea on the popular side the table with the milk on looked like it contained a cure for most known diseases on the planet! I've just watched a feature on ESPN about match day catering at ball parks in the US and what a big deal it is! Two foot long corn dogs, and hot dogs, pulled pork, nachos! I know if some of this was served up I would be travelling up from Yorkshire for more games! Why not get on the American influence 'bandwagon' and sort some of this stuff out! Come on PC....Texas is the home of stuff like this....
Or greens pies and bovril.....either way!

If you want the best pies it has to be higginsons of grange. Multi award winning pies that would with out doubt win the best pies in football if we had them.

Re: Talk sport now
Higginsons pies are very overrated, the pastry is too thick.
Pies should always be available in football ground but the current catering is fairly crap anyway so if they were in charge they probably would be as well, maybe next season we will put a tender out for a new catering team

Delish are good, but the pastry? loses some points for me. Needs a joint venture between Delish and Greens for the ultimate meat and potato.

Re: Talk sport now
Is Greens the one somewhere between Greengate St and Salthouse Rd? Last time I was in Barrow, my relatives recommended a place down there and I had one which was very good. However, I've never ever tasted pies as good as Jackmans which we always got when I was a kid on Walney Island. An excellent football family as well!Jonty wrote:Delish are good, but the pastry? loses some points for me. Needs a joint venture between Delish and Greens for the ultimate meat and potato.

correct. Green's is on the corner of Jarrow St and Brook St. Green's pie, a big slice of uncut bread and a mug of shipbuilders tea. Set you up for the day that will.

Greens pies are the best I've tasted. Bath Street's are the worst.
