Marcus Carver set to return
Marcus Carver set to return
Just grabbed a mail on the way into work and Marcus set to return on loan from Accrington on loan till the end of the season...6 strikers, whats that all about
Also pilks and ARH close to return and Izaac Reid has the cast off and starting rehabilitation work...Anthony Wilson the icing on the cake
No mention of Tony McMillan...so Aaron to continue pressumably

Thank you Mrs Enario, that answers my question about Pilks.

Re: Marcus Carver set to return
Very good player but from the team/managers point of view a bizarre situation to be in. I wonder if Wilsons injury is taking slightly longer than they originally thought, or they're concerned about how long it'll take for him to get match fit.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Still find it mad we didn't sign a striker at the start of December
Guessing Wilson ain't going to play much again this season and/or Ellison will go out on loan

Re: Marcus Carver set to return
I'm sure I read somewhere recently that Edmo had been trying hard to sign someone (a striker) but was hitting a brick wall. There seems to be a glut of them now though....HenneysKnee wrote:Still find it mad we didn't sign a striker at the start of December

Really impressive squad now, best in this league? Wonder if Fylde have added any personnel.

Re: Marcus Carver set to return
Is the glut perhaps due to the transfer window having closed, with players remaining completely underwhelmed by the offers from clubs further up the food chain?

Surprised Accrington are letting him come.
He has played in most games recently for them including their most recent one last Saturday.

Good signing, maybe Jason will get rest as it looked to me like he has been carrying injury for few weeks now.Hope Marcus can carry on with his scoring same as he did last time.

Re: Marcus Carver set to return
Can see why Accrington have let him come to Barrow on loan (NWEM story) having made a fair number of signings themselves. All the better for Barrow, welcome back Marcus.
This time with two 3-1 defeats in cup and league they have opted to stay with the current bunch and make no changes. They do seem rather bullish about their chances to regain top spot post Chorley defeat. Interviews with manager and player Jamie Allen show little concern over the two defeats, can't really tell if it is confidence, arrogance or faked confidence. Fair play to them, it is in their hands but to come from behind I'd rather have Barrow's fixture list than theirs.
Barrow seem to have a very strong squad now (a squad that actually is strong). These extra players will help avoid players tiring out toward the end and cover suspensions that often come late in the season under toting up. Since Wilson's injury both Cook and Walker have been pretty much ever present. Walker has been in need of a rest for ages and we could do without tiring out Cook as well. Barrow have been unlucky with injuries but are now better prepared for the run in than I think Fylde will be.
A strong finish looks possible and we may need the momentum if we finish in the play-offs.
Fylde have not signed anyone during the transfer window. They made a rash of changes during their last blip when they were put out of the FA cup at Plymouth. The manager said the players display at Plymouth showed what they could do but then failed to repeat the performance on a cold midweek fixture in their county cup, so he made changes. Their version of the Runcorn realisation.spirit of 1990 wrote:Really impressive squad now, best in this league? Wonder if Fylde have added any personnel.

They did make one signing on an initial months loan, http://nonleague.pitchero.com/news/coas ... per-37097/
Marcus will be a great addition to the squad, liked his attitude and desire last time he was here, but we got gazumped by Fylde and he played there but got a nasty injury and his loan was cut short. Would like to think it was the other way round this time and we took him from under their noses

Re: Marcus Carver set to return
there was big talk about ellison from all at club saying he would be our main striker
and top man here before end of season. I'm sure he has the skill's i just don't think he has confedence
to execute it. good luck james and ted yet i beleave ted's on his way out

MIssed that, Fylde have not announced the signing. I can't see a 17 year old goalkeeper changing anything at this stage. Interesting move though, they have two very good goalkeepers in Hinchliffe and Dootson. Dootson is the back up and coaches their U18's so it might be something to do with that. I read somewhere Dootson is involved with a number of other clubs in coaching as well, so at 35 he might have decided his playing career is coming to an end. I don't think Dootson has played much for a while, maybe they wanted another back up in case.Mark Mc wrote:They did make one signing on an initial months loan, http://nonleague.pitchero.com/news/coas ... per-37097/
I still think Barrow have the stronger squad for the run in, Fylde can of course still sign players but with the window closed it reduces their options.
