You need to check your facts before you post garbage like this! Ant Wilson himself has said this is the first serious injury he has suffered its bloody unfortunate for us but more for the players himself im sure he's hurting more than anyone else that he's back under the knife i just hope he comes back strong and shoves these comments back down the throats of these idiots !

Shortly after recovery from knee surgery

August 2011

BBC
Alfreton Town striker Anthony Wilson could be sidelined for two months after breaking a metatarsal.

Wilson, who has only recently recovered from knee surgery, suffered the injury during Alfreton's 6-1 defeat to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.

The 23-year-old signed for Alfreton from Belper Town last summer and scored 10 goals in 29 appearances last year.

If injury free I think he'll be fine in the coming season. Good finisher and not short on a bit of skill, he also looks like he's a real handful for defenders to play against as wel,l & he's rock solid when shielding the ball (similar to Cowps)
The injuries have been very unfortunate but is a risk that any football club takes when signing players.

Regarding the state of the club pre takeover, I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that -

1/Tony Keen would have left by now and as he was pretty much the driving force behind everything, that alone would have been disastrous for the future of the club. We also have to remember that there was plenty of moaning about how things were run previously, but there was no queue of people wanting to become a director.
2/The club could not have carried on competing even at CN level the way things stood. We were asked several times to pay bills from GMA funds that didn't fall under "maintenance" and I'm not talking of small amounts, a sure sign that the money/loans were drying up.
3/Rumours of players wages not being paid, local companies not getting money they were owed, trouble with the breweries, the list goes on.
4/Support was dropping drastically game by game with long standing fans turning their backs on the club with no sign of them coming back, never mind trying to attract new fans.
5/The membership scheme for the club simply was'nt working, people weren't interested. We used to get gates of 1100, 1200, 1300 etc but could still only attract 500 members.

Throw all that together and I am certain that some form of liquidation was just around the corner, and by now we would not be playing anywhere near CN level. It's happened to bigger clubs than us.
The takeover has in my mind saved this club.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

We beat a number of teams, including Stockport, to sign Wilson - of course we were gonna give him a two year deal. That shouldn't be under question. If he'd had a storming season and a league team came in for him, the same people who are criticising would be asking "why wasn't he under a longer contract?".

It's Casson's money. £30k for the total cost of Wilson is peanuts for him, and could still pay off. If he comes back and bags 10 goals at the end of the season, who's to say he won't get signed on again or snapped up by a bigger team? If he turns out to spend the season on the bench only to be released, who cares? Not Casson, because it's small change for him. Like losing £50 at the bookies.
Yes, the money is "being spent in our name", but again, who cares? People on other teams' forums saying "ha, look at Barrow wasting all that money on a crock" - I can't see any other reason that you'd be bothered. It's not like the money for Wilson could have been better spent on doing up the ground - the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Or is it that this is a thinly-veiled criticism of Edmo's judgement? If so, that's stupid. Who could have predicted that one of the best players in the division from the previous season would pick up an injury early on in the next?

Why not just chalk it down to bad luck, wish Wilson well, and hope he comes back fit and in form? Is a bit of positivity too much to ask?

I dont know how many times this can be said.

Its cassons money until it goes into the clubs account.

From then on the money is under Barrow AFC's name and responsibility.

Who cares? The [SwearFilter] taxman cares!

Youll care if our commercial manager doesnt find his feet and we dont make the money to help balance our spending.

What have we put in place at the moment to balance the spending? A few extra sponsors? If that? A club shop thats still on its arse? A pre season where nothings [SwearFilter] happened?

I like the reference to the signing of wilson being like a bet.

What happens when youve bet away your wages and youve still got bills to pay at home?

Id love Wilson to get better and score us 20+ goals a year. Its just not going to be the case is it? Its been a bad investment , of course this wasnt to be seen at the time but its still a bad investment.

I have no idea what darren edmonsons got to do here. I just think your adding things in for no reason. Bizarre really.
Please explain why the taxman cares? I've been in tax for over 40 years and can't follow your logic

I am Cason's biggest fan.
I will be eternally grateful for what he has done for my club. But it's still my club. And whilst I continue to support barrow AFC, it doesn't matter who owns the deeds it is still my club. That the way football is.

Before he joined Barrow, he also had a hamstring injury at N.Ferriby according to the Hull Daily Mail.
Hull Daily Mail wrote:Anthony Wilson has been ruled out of tomorrow’s home game because of a hamstring injury
Despite all the injury problems he clearly still manages to deliver goals when he does get on the pitch. He scored goals that helped us get the momentum early on and when he returned a second time he scored a vital goal at Worcester, in a game that could have gone so wrong. This season is his chance to really prove himself, staying fit is part of that.

Get the op done and who knows 12/16 weeks we could have a fit Wilson,we all know the threat he can impose. Yes We took a gamble and many other clubs wanted the same player but because of PC it was able to happen. If I'm not mistaken chadwicks long term diagnosis was never found so no comparison there. Paul Casson is the owner of my club, and not only is the man a supporter, he's also our saviour. I'm more then happy to let him and edmo make these decisions

a former member of this forum don't make stupid comments on a subject you clearly know little about.

He can put what he wants into the club and as long as the clubs expenditure is clearly identified and receipted the Tax man will be happy whatever its spent on.

As you profess to be such an expert please tell me what I'm missing and where I'm going wrong. Thanks

Stop making things up you [SwearFilter] [SwearFilter]! When have I ever claimed to be "an expert" with regards anything on here?

Ill put it simply:

What has happened to Kettering , Hereford and Rushden ETC over the recent years? (Use google if you must)

3 Points per answer. Please show your working.

You can do this Mr 40 years. I trust in you.

Kettering the guy didn`t have the financial backing to establish the club also couldn`t get backing of council/local business etc.

Hereford again were spending above what they could afford!

Rushden had £10.000.000 spent on ground etc but knew the guy was going to walk away!

Paul Casson has said he will back with his money ground changes, better players, better matchday experience better merchandise.
The big difference from all the others is that he said at the end of all this he wants the club to be stable and be financially stable!
That`s the difference a former member of this forum the guy has a vision /plan i can`t see how you fail to see this and if you don`t i have every faith in you to ask him to his face at the next meeting instead of on here!

There we go Nige!

They were all SPENDING without a back up.

a case of " well weve got money now so lets spend it"

Id just like to know whats been put in place.

On the field everything has gone very well. Cannot be faulted.

Off the field everything is quiet. The shops pretty much shut. Weve got a family installed Commercial manager on the payroll " finding his feet" . ( This was slated by fans under the old guard).

What plans are in place / being put in place to make sure it all doesnt go tits up.

What happens to a waterhole when it stops raining?

We over spent like [SwearFilter] the season after the trophy win and it got us into the position we were in shortly before the takeover. Thats had to be down to us spending crazy amounts on past it players and not putting PROPER plans in place should we get relegated (Remember the Feasibility study ?)

Its easy to say that this is different because Casson has a lot of money and theres a different plan for the future in place.

I just don't want to see us throwing money at this and ending up worse off should the money dry up. We need to make the club self sustainable

a former member of this forum I won't rise to the bait of your stupidity but the answer is in your final sentence. The owner has clearly stated he has resources for the project BUT wants the club to become self sustainable. We couldn't [SwearFilter] in a pot before he arrived. He sees his legacy as giving us the financial kick start to get into the league with a new ground that can then sustain itself. We have a long way to go and you are right to point out the areas where we are failing but please stop the ludicrous rants and unnecessary tirades because we all know already what you are whinging about but the rest of us are prepared to give the fella a bit of time to prove he means it.

What is the alternative? Do we tell him we don't like the way he's doing things and we want him to go? Well he's not going to is he.

As to the tax question whilst I appreciate your concern they were very different scenarios to our situation which is why I asked you to clarify exactly why you felt the Taxman would be interested. It was a genuine question to you but as usual you stoop to personal name calling etc If you make a point be prepared to be challenged or disagreed with. We are all wrong sometimes.
