Re: Upgdate regarding policing at BAFC
It's blatantly obvious that Leitchy has been picked on by the police.
Now they've got him for the rest of the year, who's next?
Absolute zero trust in the police and the clubs handling of this from the start leaves a lot to be desired.
Just waiting to see away fans get away with far worse than what Leitch has done and no action will be taken against them as happened the last time we were in this league.

Lets just worry about what we are doing as Barrow fans. I couldn't care a less about what other fans do and/or what happens to them.John Very Little wrote: Just waiting to see away fans get away with far worse than what Leitch has done and no action will be taken against them as happened the last time we were in this league.

Yes and no.
Worry about our fans , yes.
However keep an eye on how the police/stewards treat the away fans because there should be no difference in treatment.

I kind of agree, whilst its quite obviously he has been singled out, you need to not put yourself in a position where you can be singled out.bluebird90 wrote:Lets just worry about what we are doing as Barrow fans. It is difficult at times when other fans, be that our own or opponents, are doing something wrong, but as mentioned, nothing happens to 'most' people who just go along to games and swear a bit or whatever.
I wasnt present at the incident, and i know its difficult to bite your tongue, given history etc, but sometimes you have to keep your head down, crack on celebrating your team almost winning the league, and not give anyone the opportunity to arrest you or whatever they do.

Re: Upgdate regarding policing at BAFC
Interesting to see if the club make a statement on the way forward ,but i will not hold my breath as i have complained numerous times about fans being segregated the police /stewards making a big thing about either making holker street end away fans only/or telling home fans to keep back from fence(seperating fans)whilst they are being goaded!.
Then unbelieavably letting the away fans out at the end who then walk straight into the home fans leaving the popular side, this is an accident waiting to happen surely a far more dangerous situation than shouting out of a window!
The police/barrow have a responsibility to look after both sets of fans before during and after!
SORT THIS OUT!

I think I know the answer to this but did the Police Intelligence Unit go to Atherstone for what was potentially a flashpoint game given the build up? Or did their intelligence let them down? I’ve seen them at several other away games which weren’t regarded as flashpoint.

It really saddens me the whole situation
It is very depressing to read most of the current threads on here. Common sense is not so common it seems.

I wont be keeping an eye on how other fans are treat, its beyond our control, let the police get on with it, its their job.The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:bluebird90 wrote: Lets just worry about what we are doing as Barrow fans. Misjustices happen in everyday life, yes its wrong, but you cant go on forever saying 'yes but he did this and that's not fair'. This kind of thing happens everyday in life, some people are caught out for certain things, others get away with it. Even those who are caught are punished in different ways.
If a away fan behaves in the same way, what we going to do? Run over to the nearest police/steward and tell them? Kick off if they do nothing about it? Write a letter? Feel sorry for ourselves? Confront them?
I'd rather just get on with supporting my team, control what I can.

I think this is precisely the point: The police aren't handing out the law even-handedly. There's no sign of "Everyone is equal before the law", nor any attempt to apply the rules consistently.mightywhite wrote:There have been a lot of comments on here about how football fans are treated so badly these days, by the police and stewards. Ive been going to between 10 and 20 Barrow games a season for about 16 years now. Mostly big games as i live outside of Barrow, i often go to away games also. I occasionally have a few beers before a game, i shout a little bit, sing a little bit less, occasionally shout at a linesman/ref. I'm a teacher so i would like to think i am a reasonably level headed person (please dont use this as an excuse to pick up on my grammar,,,its late) I think i can honestly say i have very rarely even spoken to a steward let alone been unfairly treated...same with the police. Is this a coincidence?? Am i just lucky or is it the fact that i dont really swear, or as someone said earlier in this thread, don't appear threatening. I think it is probably not a coincidence.
Many police officers are great: but at BAFC we appear to have acquired two jobsworth cockwombles who don't know the meaning of integrity hold personal vendettas, target individuals and manipulate the situation to get what they want. They've no interest in protecting the public, standing up for the public interest or doing "the right thing" - they just want to play billy-big-[SwearFilter] and target a few individuals they've taken exception to.
They wouldn't recognize good policing if it stuck its truncheon up their arses while whistling The Bill's theme tune, and they regularly make life harder for ALL Barrow fans with antics such as predicting trouble where there will be none (again, to protect their own cushy saturday afternoon at the football), which ends up with the rest of us being tarnished with that brush and hustled around shitholes in Yorkshire by about a thousand police officers. Oh, and not to mention we all have to pay for them to do it, too - if nothing else, I object to funding the overtime of 100 officers brought in to make our two resident officers feel important.

You are exactly what I hate about this situation. Do nothing, say nothing, get nothing apathetic [SwearFilter] stain....bluebird90 wrote:I wont be keeping an eye on how other fans are treat, its beyond our control, let the police get on with it, its their job.The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:

Maybe if people stuck their neck out when something is wrong we wouldn't end with the police ruling the roost. New police requested is the bare minimum that needs to happen here.
Re: Upgdate regarding policing at BAFC
I believe there are people who have contributed to this thread who were with Andrew Leitch at the time the incidents happened, from the Mail we learn that “Prosecutor Mr Lee Dacre explained: “There was a lap of honour by the (Barrow) players and then there was a pitch invasions (sic). Police and the stewards were happy with what was happening and didn’t see any cause for concern. Mr Leitch was in the Cross Bar and was gesturing and shouting that the Police were doing nothing as usual to stop what was going on.” He then called an officer an abusive name and was removed from the clubhouse for disorderly behaviour.
So, for those who were there are the time, please, is this an accurate description of the events that took place?

Yeah the stewards were so happy they chased the kids and took crutches of a child.
