At last - the alternative albeit minority view.
We need to learn Patience.
This is my 61st season as a Barrow supporter and you think this is a grim season under a useless manager?
If I've learned one thing it's that you just knuckle down and stick with your team through the bad times, thus ensuring that you, and the less committed supporters, have a team to support when the better times arrive as they inevitably do.
Taking the last 2 years as a whole -
Season 1 avoid relegation. Season 2 promotion as champions. Season 3 mid table respectability.
If that progress continues, I'd expect season 4 to be at least flirting with play off places. Do you know, that chunk of my life as a Barrow supporter isn't so bad
I'm not an Edmondson apologist, he's naive, inexperienced, his team selection and substitutions have me, like most, scratching my head on occasion. But I'm confident that one day he will be a success, managing at a higher level than Conference National, and I'd like to think that his team will be Barrow, where he cut his teeth, and where the club, owner and support afforded him tolerance and patience during his early learning years.
Paul Casson his invested heavily in our club, so has earned the right to stick or twist with his manager. We should respect his decision even though we may not agree with it, and play our part by maintaining our support and stop being so fickle.
It's the bad times that make the good times good.

Good post, and probably right - we're probably expecting too much too soon and we'll be better next year. Maybe this show of total animosity might wake a few people up, Edmo included.
However, from the snippets of inside info I've heard, Edmo's match day tactics would have been about standard 61 years ago...
He'll not improve as a manager.

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
I can see the reasoned argument for keeping calm and that was a good post. But having given over control of our club, without much choice and rightly, so we could have that lucky shot..with investment to right a 40 plus year wrong and get back in the league, then expectations are different. I think barrow fans are having a hard time getting their heads round what those should be.
Perhaps its a sense of momentum, excitement and togetherness. The team darren puts on the park and the way they play is too often the opposite, even when we are doing well! Momentum? Aimless punts to cookie. Excitement? Fearful percentage football. Togetherness? The relationship with the fans varies from week to week.
This league is easier than last time. Darren, a very nice gent, has earnt the season to get it right. I baulk at the idea of giving him another summer's money to waste..and no paul murray to shift the blame to when it goes wrong.

Tactics are awefully bad, his scouting network judging by the majority of his signings is terrible, his substitutions are inept and we are basically an aweful team to watch 99% of the time. Even our title winning season was garbage football we stuttered to a title. Most alarmingly for me is the team regularly don't look "up for it" week in week out.

I can see the logic and grudgingly I agree that that last seasons championship win at least earns him a full season , but ..............The idea of watching this "football" and lack of effort by a few players (who look demotivated for whatever reason) , bizarre subs, cringe-worthy interviews , along with insulting comments such as the agenda incident about a few fans who dared to question Edmo etc leaves me feeling utterly down ....and its only October.barrowaberdeen wrote:I can see the reasoned argument for keeping calm and that was a good post. If this is the case we will lose fans through the gate again, which in turn will once again become hard to bring them back.
I like the man and from what I've seen and heard he's quite approachable, unfortunately he's struggling (and massively so), If it was my money I was throwing at it he would have been gone by 5.30 last night.
Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Seems that some people are giving Edmo the benefit of doubt pity he does not do the same for Elliot Newby.
As for the 2 Ds they had 34% win rate which fell to17% when D Baylis was in sole control.
We need a Manager with contacts bring back Norman Bodell another good talker

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Recruitment in summer of new players has turned out to be very poor.
We retained players that truthfully were not good enough last year at a lower level and expect better from them which will never happen.
We are still playing same type of football which isn't good to watch same as last season.
Management still repeating the same excuses and don't seem capable of making any improvements.
Team now full time but are often outplayed by fitter part timers!
Another lack lustre display yesterday to go with 90% of other games.
Time for a change!!

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
I agree with a lot of what MisterT says. Like him, I have suffered over the years. These days it seems worse because everyone has a go on the forum, whereas in the old days there would simply be an Evening Mail report that "Barrow performed badly and crashed out of the cup to Fylde", we would all groan and then we would move on to the next week with the usual false optimism!
I too have misgivings about tactics, selection and recruitment, but there is no point calling for Edmo's head as I am certain that he will have at least this season to show what he can do - and indeed he deserves it after his efforts in the previous two seasons.
It is really strange that the team can put in committed performances such as Tranmere, but then on other occasions (yesterday seems like one), fail to turn up. Is it lack of faith in tactics, or are some players simply not interested?
Edmo's default position seems to be not to take risks and try to avoid defeat. Apart from attitude, the main problem has been repeated so often - lack of creativity. That needs to be sorted out in January. We could have 4 Andy Cooks but they still wouldn't score if they were not getting the right service.
It's no use calling for a change of manager because it won't happen. And in any case, who's to say if an 'experienced' manager would do any better? Remember 'experienced' Phil Wilson?

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
For the first time in a long time, I watched yesterdays game from near the dug out. Now I'm no expert on human behaviour or football management, but from what I could see there's a more fundamental problem in the camp. The body language of players on the pitch and the bench didn't appear to me as a well integrated and harmonious team. There was also a lot of dissent going on, particularly aimed towards Edmo, when he was giving instructions to players....in general there seemed to be a lack of belief in his 'plan' for the game..
IMHO something's not right behind the scenes.....Is there more to the absences of Grand, Lacey and Walker than we've been told??

Re: The Darren Edmondson Thread
Repeatedly setting up to try and prevent any threat the opposition has is annoying too. Fair enough if going away somewhere difficult (eg Grimsby) but we should be letting teams worry about us instead. Edmo clearly is not capable of that. Get rid now, as I've already said it'll give the new guy a bit of time to assess and then January to rectify it. There would be some decent applicants compared to previous years when we haven't had a pot to [SwearFilter] in.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.
If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

We have been told: Lacey ill (toothache?) and Walker injured after a car crash.Bluey VIII wrote:.....Is there more to the absences of Grand, Lacey and Walker than we've been told??
