All time goalscorers list
One for the stattos/historians/PJ Daly
Does anyone have a list of our all time record scorers? Obviously I know about Cowps, Billy Gordon etc but does anyone have a top 10 or 20 list of our goalscorers?
Cheers.

Re: All time goalscorers list
The list of leading goalscorers would be interesting, because apart from the above mentioned absolute legends, forwards have only tended to stick around for a season or maybe two. I know in recent years Gavin Knight got a few for us. The much-maligned Neil "Clown Shoes" Campbell, for all his faults, did get a respectable goals haul whilst he was here, but didn't stay long. Nick Peverell, Barry Diamond, and Grant Holt all did well for us whilst they were here. Billy Gilmour will have scored a few from midfield over his handful of seasons, and Ken Gordon used to get a small handful of goals every season (mostly late, points-saving headers from corners!) but because he played for centuries, his tally must be pretty respectable in the grand scheme. I wouldn't expect the figures for any of these to be anything to write home about though. I'm sure I heard/read somewhere a while back that John "Jabba" Brady has the best goals per game ratio....? I look forward to the stattos response to this.

Re: All time goalscorers list
I reckon Neil Morton would make that list too.
Re: All time goalscorers list
Going back a bit - 30s maybe - but I reckon that Shankly fella will be on it. Pretty sure he got 5 in a game once too (perhaps even 3 hattricks in the same game?) possibly v Gateshead, 12.1??
Haven't looked at the old bible* for a long long time.

Re: All time goalscorers list
Andy Whittaker too?
I'm sure the older fans can name a few goalscoring legends from the 50s, 60s and 70s too?

Nick Peverill? Didn't he score a boat load of goals one season?

Re: All time goalscorers list
Date: November 19, 1966
Venue: Holker Street
TONY Field’s career highlight was undoubtedly playing alongside Pele and Beckenbauer for the fabled New York Cosmos.
But for Barrow AFC fans of a certain age he’s best remembered as the man whose goal clinched promotion to Division Three on the last day of the 1966/67 season.
The former Halifax Town man – who the club initially signed on trial – began his short Holker Street career in the best possible fashion with two debut goals in a 3-1 win at Southend Utd in October 1966.
And a few weeks later AFC fans got to see first-hand what the 5ft 7ins forward was all about when he bagged another brace – as Barrow’s opponents today, Luton Town, were beaten comprehensively, 3-0.
In the words of the Mail’s then Barrow AFC reporter and now club programme editor Bob Herbert, the hosts got off to the best possible start when Field stroked home his first home goal on six minutes after being set up by Mick Hartland and Billy McAdams.
Two minutes later the livewire Field doubled his and his side’s tally in front of the Steelworks end when he capitalised on an error by Hatters keeper Read.
Field was also involved in the decisive third goal on the hour when he was fouled by Luton defender Slough, and Jimmy Mulholland dispatched the resulting penalty.
Field’s goals meant he had bagged five in five for Don McEvoy’s men, and he was to be a regular scorer for the rest of the campaign. He ended his one full season at Barrow with 12 goals in 23 games – including that final-day winner against Brentford, in front of 8,769 fans at Holker Street.
His career took him to Southport the following season before he began an upward curve with moves to Blackburn Rovers and a £75,000 transfer to first division Sheffield United, followed by that dream two-year stint with the star-studded New York Cosmos.
Barrow: Else, Mallon, Edwards, Smith, Arrowsmith, Hartland, Field, Mulholland, McCarthy, McAdams, Pilkington.
Luton: Read, Jardine, Thomson, Slough, Moore, Conroy, Rioch, Ghear, Whittaker, Rivers, Pleat.
Referee: Mr F Nicholson (Manchester).
Attendance: 5,061.

Re: All time goalscorers list
He certainly did. Peverell was one of those players who didn't have any obvious strengths, he wasn't especially quick or good in the air, but he had an eye for goal and a knack of being in the right place at the right time. Re: All time goalscorers list
Must admit, the reason for the query was to see where Jase and Cooky stood in the non league scorers charts - there aren't many who stick around too long. Apart from the names listed above, i'd be interested to see how many John Brady notched overall.
