Match report on BBC site, has picture of flattened assistant ref, as well as an interview with Woking manager who seemed to think it was a terrible match as they were pushed into playing Barrow's way.

BTW Slightly off topic but regarding BBC match reports. I've just noticed that we hardly ever get interviews or the like up on the BBC site, it is almost always the opposition making comments. In fact I've just checked, not one single match report on the BBC site has a single quote or interview from Barrow this season. If someone is quoted or interviewed it is only the opposition manager, Cheltenham, Grimsby, Wrexham, Lincoln, Woking, FGR and the like. Cox gets a very brief mention in his first game in charge, before going on to quote the Woking managers view. Nothing this time out, not even a mention but the Woking manager gets audio interview and is also quoted.

We get great coverage locally from BBC RC compared to other national league sides, but nationally on the BBC we rarely get a look in. Doesn't help with the broader promotion of the club if all you get to hear is what other people say about us, especially when they are not exactly glowing reports. Outside of Cumbria I'm not sure anyone knows we exist, apart from a statistic on the National League table.

I suppose there's an English dismissal lurking here, similar to the Southern Scots referring to Scots from the North as Teuchters. :o

A good summary of the game, Barrow showed some good skills now and then, but seemed to lack any midfield support for our forwards.
Probably a fair result in the end. Onwards and upwards from now on.
Not far away Exile but I'm from the Southampton dreaded enemy i.e. Portsmouth! I even missed Pompey against Bournemouth to watch Barrow yesterday!! Looking forward to the Eastleigh match as my son played against their Youth teams several times when he played for Petersfield a few years ago.

Their No 11 Goddard had Symo well tied up and they failed to exploit his vulnerability.
too much 'hoof ball' in the second half, from both sides. Following on from the Welling match, Cookey won just about every ball played into him.
overall a point against a 'play off contender' is the plus (and the point)
Hope Cowps is ok, because it didn't look good from the high stand.
good turnout of blue and white scarves.
roll on Eastleigh in a fortnight.
Another south coaster. That's 3 at least 3 of us! As you say, it's a decent point. I was sitting in the centre stand slightly nearer the end Woking attacked in the first half and when their second goal went in I said "offside" before it was even put in. After watching the match video, I'm not sure even after stopping in whether NWA moves out just in time or not but it's mighty close. However, I am sure after watching closely and stopping the video that the late goal which was disallowed for offside and would have been Woking's winner was definitely onside! So a bit of luck, there!

Have you got a link for the highlights Russell?

If, when the ball is in play, it touches the referee or an assistant referee who is temporarily on the field of play, play continues because the referee and the assistant referees are part of the match.

Curious rules Boylie but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
But he was off the pitch. I'm not actually bothered. Just thought it would have been a throw.

Is there any qualified refs in the crowd was funniest announcement of the day.
Fair one Boylie. After watching the highlights the liner is clearly a metre or so behind the line so you are correct.

The liner copped a right shiner there, nice to see Al offering his own brand of first aid and plenty of sympathy by the looks of things ;) ! Great ball winning tackle by Si Grand to set us on our way to our opener and a peach of a header by Griffiths :) also good reactions by Cookie for our second. We are all over the place for their second, far too much space allowed in our box. Sounded like great vocal support by those travelling, any idea how many Bluebirds were there it looked like at least a hundred. Great coverage from the Woking media department. :scarf: :scarf:

If anyone wants to see what Woking FC ground is like with a few thoughts from last week when I visited there to see them play Halifax then have a look at my blog.

There was little sympathy from me, I was telling him to get up, I told the ref to book him for diving.

Hilarious, he just dropped. I gave him a bit of friendly advice telling him to get up etc.

After watching the highlights Al ever thought of a career change? I'm sure there'd be a place for you with the BAE Systems first aiders on match days
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Regarding the booking of the Woking no. 26 Norman in the second half and why the ref had to consult the officials and notes: on the train back to London I got talking to a guy from Norway who had been to the game. He’d originally planned to go to the game at Gosport but that was postponed so picked up the game at Woking instead. Anyway, turns out he is a qualified referee and he had offered his services after the injury to the liner but they already had someone else by then. His comment was that the most likely explanation was that there was a discrepancy between the team sheet and the shirt numbers. It could simply have been a typo or a poor print or something like that.

As regards the match he thought it was ‘terrible’ with a draw being a reasonable result. He agreed that Norman should have been booked sooner but that the incident that got him booked didn’t deserve a card so it evened out.
Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom.....

If he thought that was terrible,he should have been at some of the games we have had to endure this season. :o
