When I contacted the club to check on the progress of the application, I was told that there was a letter due to be sent out to me that day so I called in to the club to pick it. There were 4 envelopes on the front desk (for anyone to take!). I am assuming that 4 applicants had been unsuccessful. Maybe the new CM will be superb, but I am surprised not to get an interview. I am a local, football supporter who understands sales, marketing, branding and the local area. I have contacts galore who I speak to daily who I would be targeting for sponsorship deals.no even drew up a script and method for how to reality incoming calls better. I was ready to go...

If I were applying for a job I probably wouldn't clearly identify myself and criticise my potential employer on a public forum. If the job is re-adverised for whatever reason I wouldn't fancy your chances.

The question should be, why are people getting rejection letters before the closing date? Shirley, if the closing date is the 18th why are club rejecting applicants before that date unless the job has already been earmarked for someone. I don't own and never have owned a business and never been in a position to employ anyone but if I was and I'd set closing date for applications I'd stick to it and judge all on merit from that date

I have brought up with the club today that there seem to be one or two applicants that haven't had a reply to their application, two people never left an e-mail contact address so they have letters in the post - hopefully they'll have received the letters by tomorrow, if there is anyone (who reads this) who hasn't received a reply off the club can you please use the e-mail above and I'll pass your details on.

What difference does it make? If the application isn't the required standard then there is no point in waiting. It's not uncommon to sift out unsuitable applicants before interviews are scheduled. The applicant knows exactly where they stand and can move on with other applications. At least we are letting people know unlike a lot of large employers.

Shockingly bad experience you have had there PeeSee, Please contact PC directly & tell him what happened or in this and other cases Didn't.

Why should he tho ? Why should anyone have to chase the club with a pocket of money ?

So he can hear or see (as he is in town) first hand for himself how badly people feel & maybe he might do something about it, sometimes it's better to go to the top & air your views rather than them getting a watered version of events, I am not suggesting he gets bothered with any or every gripe, but a local company with a corporate entertainment budget getting ignored after them trying a few attempts to spend their cash at the club IMO warrants an answer from the top.

My thoughts too. Peesee has obviously had a good experience with the rugby so will probably be sticking with them.

We should share a bigger shop and staff in town with the rugby..even maybe smaller sports like thorns etc. That way there would be year round business in better surroundings..run by people who understand both business and the town. Commercial meetings and ticket offers could be run from there. Also..afaik the well dressed older gents paul describes are retirees with extensive knowledge of the town. How hard can it be? I despair.

You aren't wrong, but my point was why would Peesee bother going out of his way to contact a company who has failed him, when he has been provided a service elsewhere?
This is the problem with our customer service, we think our customers will go out of their own way to give money to the club, some have done in the past and will continue to, but the club continue to throw money down the drain. Yes most of it is Cassons, but the fans still put their own hard earned money into the club.

Fair enough, as I said, never been in that position was just wondering. Although judging by the qualifications that some have that have been rejected we must have someone special lined don't you think

I don't know, I just think it's a bit of a jump to conclude that because we are rejecting applications the job is earmarked for someone. We only know of one applicant who has been critical of the club on a public forum after being rejected and struggled with English language in his / her posts. I hope we can do better.

I agree with you 100% that they shouldn't have to.

But if the decision maker is unaware then making them aware can lead to change & that's something we all want & hopfully on its way when I take over in a few weeks

We should have a shop in town, could be used as an office as well. Would help the problem of no internet at the ground. Sell tickets during the week with a quid off or something and you'd get plenty of people nipping in
