Anderton being watched also.whitty1969 wrote:Great result, Byron looking like a really good signing. Think PC brings the best out of the players.
Might have to fend off interest for Harrison & williams in January.
Last 2 home games quickly forgotten by 2 great away victories.
Roll on York. Hoping for a great crowd. York usually bring a few hundred. Corporate rooms already sold out.
1800 ???
Re: Lincoln v Barrow match thread
Article from Lincoln newspaper fans comments - never thought anybody would comment on our quite or none existing midfield. Well done lads
It was men against the boys today as our inexperience became obvious. Barrow were the best side we have played this year and made us look ordinary at times. We reverted to route one again and I am becaming bored by it. We need a creative midfielder Cowley please. Champion is a holding midfielder! It was worrying today as the lack of invention carried on from Tuesday's game. We looked like a mid table side and Barrow champions elect. Forget Miller buy some of the Barrow midfielders! Frustrated!!!

Tuesday at Southport was great but today was immense. Brilliant away support who sang down the drum beaters. All eleven plus the subs were superb so difficult to pick people out but I do believe we have to keep Yates as he is a massive difference in the centre of the park - have seen him 3 times and he has bossed them all. We defended superbly, looked creative and carried a threat. Its a million miles from what we saw at Dover away as we now look like a team willing to fight for each other. Two good goals and a fully deserved 3 points.

I'll be disappointed if we dont get 1500 next week especially with the run of good form we are on, plus the fact that the hospitality had to be expanded to accomodate the demand for the fixture. Build on todays result and we're sure to get more coming through the gates. The jurys out on dixon for me, i feel todays result spared his blushes somewhat however that is only my opinion. I hope across the course of the season im proven wrong.

Im not saying your right/ wrong on Dixon,i tend to agree. I listned to the game on radio lincolnshire and the 2 commentators said Dixon is the best keeper they have seen this season.make of that what you will.Newbarnsblue wrote:I'll be disappointed if we dont get 1500 next week especially with the run of good form we are on, plus the fact that the hospitality had to be expanded to accomodate the demand for the fixture. Didn't hear the RC commentary but having watched the highlights I'm guessing the criticism would refer to Dixons first save where he patted it down back into his six yard box rather than the great reactions for the follow up?

The Return of a Magnificent Eleven!!
And a bit of Agadoo from the coaching team there in the highlights!
Can't blame Dixon for what actually looked like a double save to me - seemed like a bit of topspin took the ball towards the forward?
Should get a good buzz around the place now shirley.

Re: Lincoln v Barrow match thread
Having now seen the highlights i still think dixon could have done better with the first save where he parried it straight back to their player however he was unfortunate with the following save for it to rebound and go into the net. It hasnt cost us this time fortunately

I can see the argument for that I suppose from the highlights (didn't look like that at all from our end) but even aside from the goal he was pretty good especially handling late on.
Cracking performance, Diarra, Yates and thee brilliant Livesey the pick for me.
Grand, grand day out.

Re: Lincoln v Barrow match thread
Don't think Joel can take much blame for that goal at all, if anything I suppose you could question why we left Danny and Joel so exposed to a break-away - which is exactly what happened.
Regarding next weeks attendance and as someone has already mentioned, the corporates have been extended (but quite a few of them would already be attending in any case) but we should be hitting 1500 without whatever York bring.....easily.
I've said this before but I think Byron will be one of the leagues top scorers at the end of the season but I'm think I'd rather we have him than Cookie in the team. He'll score lots of goals, he's got more skill & he'll create more than Cookie, better all around player imo.
That's not knocking Cookie, just comparing two top strikers (at this level)

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
