Mall - After the club received all the ground boring results they were then passed onto all the companies who were tendering for the job, we are now awaiting their replies.

For those interested we'll be having a maintenance visit to the ground this Sunday.

Plenty of painting to do, all exterior - which given the forecast should make it quite enjoyable....as far as painting goes.
Pop side main gates to lift and firm up to the pillars either side. Also take off all the tat that has become attached to them over the years, fit new locks and if we get time throw a coat or two of paint on them.
Asda gates (corner of the ground) to make some alterations to and add new locks and ground bolts.
Some new sponsor signs to throw up.
General tidy up of all the rubbish that is no doubt lying around all over the place.

All that nice fresh air in the sunshine AND breakfast buns and tea/coffee served up by Emma and her girls...

Pop side gates were fixed yesterday, although the BT scaffolders did their best to undo all of Mrssenoritta's and my hard work by forcing the gate too far open and lifting it of it's hinge bracket! it was only hanging on by the top hinge......very, very lucky people, I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere near that if it had fell off. we tried fixing it just after work tonight but only managed to make it safe for the time being. IRVJ, Exile and Gareth will be securing it properly tomorrow.

Big Al and Exile also painted a couple of areas of some perimeter walling yesterday.

Gareth was busy yesterday making a step off the pitch with some edging stones, apparently water runs off the pitch and into the away directors corridor so hopefully that'll solve that little problem.

Gareth and his new mate (sorry, don't know his name) have been painting the front face of the X Bar wall on the interior of the ground today, another area tidied up a little.

The bottle bar now has a lock on it.....just to deter those who thought it was open early....and free last time out. By the way, the reports are it went down very well the other week with plenty of bottles/cans sold, we knew that fridge would come in handy one day.

For anyone interested, we'll be having a visit to the ground this coming Sunday morning. There's only one job really (although I'm sure more will appear if 100's turn up ) which is moving the storage units (formerly lab units from a local company) from the old first aid cabin into the new one.
After doing that and sometime in the near future the old first aid/stewards cabin will be demolished and the replacement cabins put in their place.

We'll be there from 9:00am till about dinnertime.

We don't really "advertise" that we're still doing the ground visits (if you'd like to be informed just drop me a PM with contact details and we'll let you know) as it's been scaled down quite a bit, but I feel like I've got to mention this mornings visit, mainly because of the help we've been getting off one local businessman and his employees.

Mike Gough (oldbarrafancumbak on here) who owns Abbey Marble & Granite (AMG) & Mike, one of his employees have been helping with a lot of things behind the scenes lately. One of the things he has very kindly agreed to help with are some very unique slate products - all bearing the club badge, some of these items are already on display in the club shop - many other's will follow.

By far the biggest offer he has come up with is to help us upgrade the corporate rooms & be involved in helping us to construct some new bars, this is instead of a couple of people dishing out drinks from a table with all the glasses & drinks out in the open. What we've been doing today (after a lot of discussion between us, Paul, Steph & Andrew Casson) with the help of IRVJ, Exile and Bahamasbluebird is build some bar carcasses which are being made to measure & will sit in the corner of each room. The Fred Else room will be the first as that is pretty much the finished article already, this will just complete it. Next will be the Legends room which we have big plans for, some will be advertised before finishing that room as we'd like supporters views on it. We will also be upgrading the lighting and redecorating in there, hopefully with the help of Furness College and two other local businesses. These carcasses will be completely cladded in slate along with a BAFC badge engraved on the front bearing the name of the room it belongs to.

Mike has pushed us to do this as he's a supporter and just wants to give something back to the club that he feels like he can help out with. Each bar (three in total) will be fully portable and will fit in with any future build that Paul Casson has in mind. All of this material and his time are being given free of charge.

If anyone would like to see some pictures of what was done today (apart from those who always ask and I have their details) just drop me a PM and I'll send them off.
