Tomorrows game will see our usual 1k/1300 Wish it was going to be 16/1700+ but alas.

Very important game this where we MUST WIN to kinda get back on track after what 5 without a win? Any win will put us back into a P.O. Position & hopefully we kick on again when so of the JCL'S Will have reason to return for the 3 high profile upcoming games.

If the 'Missings' usual football needs are met by watching the Premiership on TV then maybe they are de-sensitised to football at our level; they might have no real concept of the playing standards lower down the pyramid levels. They only go to a big match for the community occasion itself, think the standard is terrible because they are de-sensitised and won’t go again until another big 'buzz' match comes along.

I was talking to a guy yesterday who took delight in informing me that he'd watched the Rochdale game LIVE from the comfort of his home via an Irish TV Website.

I felt like responding with a few comments relating to loyalty, paying to watch your home town team, putting money into their coffers...etc etc...but I knew it wouldn't have done any good.

THEN I reflected on the quality of the football I'd watched last Saturday, how long it took me to thaw out after the game (it's freezing at Holker Street!), my disgust whilst stood in the Urinal behind the Popular Side and I realised WHY he, and possibly, many others, don't attend. To be honest, I don't think the guy has ever attended a REAL LIVE football match - so I don't think any amount of stadium improvements at Holker Street would manage to attract him to any game.

But, as Wintergreen has so aptly described - maybe the local arm chair football fans are totally 'de-sensitised' by what they see when they visit our ground? And therefore don't come back until the next BIG GAME.

Has watching the Premiership continually on TV SPOILT people?
Is that what Joe Public expects to see when he/she visits Holker Street?

It depends what is meant by 'missing'. When I lived at home, i.e. Barrow, I went to every game but now I live two and a half hours away and to get to every game is just not possible from a cost or time point of view. I will get to as many as I can (maybe 5/6 per season) and usually I don't care whether it's Lincoln or Guiseley. But when an attractive fixture like Saturday's comes along (and, yes, Rochdale had far more attraction to me because of our mutual history) of course I'm going to make the extra effort to get to HS. I would have thought there must be quite a few like that in the crowd. In any given match day crowd there will be a sprinkling of us so it isn't noticed but for particular games, such as the FAC 3rd round, collectively more are going to try to get there. I'm not the slightest bit interested in the Premiership, there's only one team in my heart but it's just not so black-and-white to suggest that there's either die-hard regulars or JCLs. You're quite right, I won't be at the Southport game tomorrow (well, not in body) but you can bet your life I'll be tuned to BBC RC.

Loads were there in Saturday who follow Barrow but live away, or had enough money to do one game this month, or were hone from Uni. My lad falls into at least 2 of those categories.

As well, I remember when we played Bristol at had been probably one of those ' floating' fans..went about 10 games a season, occasionally Boxing Day away in Lancaster. Its those ones you have more hope of converting.

Loads talking about the team and the game today, kids, parents, everyone. If we can get going again they will come back for the bigger matches.

The positive from Saturday is that it's another reminder that there is an appetite for the team in the town. The potential is there.

not sure about that. was selling beer at tranmere. no drink at bristol so it must be football league clubs the rule is for. no harm bringing it in at holker st til barrow are in football league.

not for me although i do like the idea of a pint on terrace. idea is for lads in the pubs and clubs on sat afternoon. always ask why they dont go holker st. most common reply is lack of drink on terrace. yet to hear a good reason why we cant do it til in the football league.

Also missing is all the scouts that were watching you a few weeks ago.
At the moment chaps we couldn't give you away on a free transfer.
Some of our players think they are better than Barrow AFC. Some have stopped putting in the effort and work rate.
Time for Coxy to sit them in the stands and get players who want to play for us on the pitch....

Couldn't agree more, some players not putting any effort in, continuous hoof ball the Southport centre backs won every ball which again seemed to go to a Southport player every time, no challenges from any Barrow player. Time to either give the fringe players a run out or Paul Casson to get the cheque book out as he hasn't spent any money on ground improvements.

Be about 600, but all the rats who do a game away a season away will all be out a week later for York embassing the club.

The turn out last night was never going to be record breaking I realise, but someone at the club should be leading the way, devising and promoting offers, using the opportunity of the extra numbers (Sat) to enthuse them to return. C'mon the club do something about it because it won't happen on its own
