Ticket pricing for FA Trophy game

Post by Jonty » Thu Jan 12, 2017 10:49 pm

On the back of our lowest league gate of the season, I noticed that the ticket pricing for Saturday's FA Trophy game is the same as a normal league game. i will be suprised if the gate tops 800. Surely this is a game to lower prices in recognition of 5 home games in January. Tranmere have set prices at £10 for adults and £5 for young adults (18-22) and u18' at £1 for their FA Trophy fixture this weekend. Come on Barrow, why can't we try something like this.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

it wouldn`t matter if it was a tenner it would not alter much, fans will either turn up or not anyway whatever the gate it`s not going to affect the way ahead.

The price of next seasons Season tickets is the way forward, the discount gained is next to nothing, make it worthwhile and you`ll get a guaranteed core of fans, you could also look at a strategy for discounts if you collect the tickets from previous home games, this is the way forward but let`s be honest can`t see much changing look at the way we handled the sale of the Rochdale tickets!

It's not too late, but there has been a lack of forward thinking here in view of the run of home games.

Would it not need the agreement of Matlock to reduce prices?

What it would need for reduced admission prices would be for someone in the administration department to think...

Yes, but I'd reckon they think they'd be able to make more at the higher prices as you wouldn't get the extra crowd to cover the drop in prices.
Most teams in our league don't get decent crowds till the later rounds sadly.

Definitely one area the club is not proactive enough at, ticketing and understanding their audience!

Sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate, hopefully this will be seriously looked at moving forward we need to price according to peaks and troughs, when money is short we need to compensate a little like now at the end of a longer than normal salaried month, the club need to give a little to get more supporters through the turnstiles.

Equally with a flexiticket option it requires serious looking at and the club are missing a trick here, optimistic rather than pessimistic but please start to understand your audience.

Too much negativity on this thread. I for one don't like to see that kind of thing. Rome wasn't built in a day and we are lucky to have a club considering Paul Casson saved it with his cash.

Top of the table Lincoln have also slashed prices for their draw with Macclesfield.

What a perfect opportunity this is for the club to get into the schools with free tickets and gets the kids in.

Because they realise that their fans will have limited interest - seeing PROMOTION as their MAIN Objective. They probably won't be fielding a full strength team, either...

WE obviously still have a 'Non-League' Mind-Set...

I understand that this Trophy holds a special place in our hearts and yeah, it would be nice to win it a third time. However, I think we should be moving on now and looking at the Football League as our main focus - as do our rivals.

I hope Paul Cox fields a weakened team this coming Saturday. And I just hope it's not a draw.
The Trophy 'could' play havoc with our promotion aspirations ie injuries and future fixture congestion.

Biggest game of the season according to Mr Cox - I think we'll see changes, for sure.

That is a link from five years ago (2012).

The Imps are playing Gateshead away tomorrow (not Macc or Carshalton) subject to a pitch inspection. Gateshead have insisted on full admission prices, no reduction. The Imps and Ipswich agreed to limit tix prices for the FA Cup third round tie (and replay) to £10 which accounts for a 10.5k sell out at Sincil Bank in front of the BBC-1 cameras on Tuesday evening, complete with tribute to Imps legend one Mr. Graham Taylor.
