Paul's Statement.

Yesterday there were several news stories concerning the employment status of our manager Paul Cox. There was never a scond thought he was leaving and so for me it was all much ado about nothing.

Hartlepool acted correctly and asked permission to speak to him concerning their management vacancy. I personally don't believe I have the right to deny any individual the right to persue any opportunity so I gave it, as I would for any employee of Barrow AFC . It's naïve to think it wouldn't have happened anyway.

Paul has a contract with Barrow AFC through 2019 and so were anything to happen, would need to request a release from that. He did not.

Hartlepool gave it their best effort and always behaved appropriately, but at the end of all that, which in reality wasn't much, Paul remains our manager.

The majority of our discussion yesterday was actually around the now fearsome array of strikers we possess and how we unlock all of that goal scoring potential, not to mention that carefully configured and intriguing pre-season schedule.

We aren't that far away. We have hopes for Joel & Andy returning successfully from injury and we think three or four key pieces from being very competitive, but they have to be right, and we are being careful. Opportunities may await for a couple of our players at a higher level and if that happens we will wish them well, it is further evidence of the healthy growth of the club.

Sincerely,

Paul.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Can you guide me to the link in which the club announces it?

Cheers in advance!

Hartlepool United hope to appoint a new manager today following the breakdown of a move to bring in Paul Cox. SportMail understands that plans to attract the Barrow boss had reached an advanced stage.

However, it collapsed yesterday when the Bluebirds insisted they would demand a hefty compensation sum to release the 45-year-old from his contract at Holker Street. Cox had two seasons of a three-year contract still to run, leaving the Cumbrian club in a very strong negotiating position.

Make of that what you will. Sounds like everything was agreed except the fee
Sounds to me like Hartlepool lost interest in the idea of contacting Cox when they found they would have to compensate Barrow.

Lot of slurs about Cox in this thread which are not justified by facts in the public domain. You'd wonder why people get fed up with football 'fans'...

CLUB STATEMENT

The club has made the following statement regarding matters this week.
Paul Cox, as one of the best managers in the National League, will always be sought after by other clubs. The club allowed Hartlepool to speak to Paul Cox out of respect for him. We believed Paul Cox would stay with the club and thus, felt like it gained nothing to prevent him from having a discussion with them.
In the end, the discussions went nowhere because Paul doesn’t want to leave Barrow AFC. He believes in the club’s vision and the progress we have made during his time as manager.
We have the best manager in the league, we are building one of the best squads in the league and are constantly trying to improve behind the scenes to prepare Barrow AFC for promotion to the Football League.
We are all looking forward to the new season and the challenges it will bring, and believe all our supporters are too as shown by the fantastic season ticket sales so far.
Thanks as always for your support!

So called people in the know claimed Paul Cox had agreed terms, if he had then fans had a right to question if he was the right man to take us forward - don't think they were any slurs - if that's your idea of a slur you need to get out more

The mysterious bit then, is why bother to talk with Hartlepool... No?

The fat Azalea was slagging off PC manager yesterday, questioning his commitment to Barrow.
The man (fat Azalea) needs to question his own commitment to Barrow with a constant barrage of divisive comments and observations on here.
An absolute vote of no confidence in fat Azalea demonstating any support for Barrow AFC. Absolutely everything he posts is negative and/or a moan. Unless it's support for the fabulous footballing talent that was Ashley Grimes of course.

I think youve confused me with someone who gets offended at being called the first name of a famous Australian pop star.

If the statement came yesteday as it should have, there would have been fairly limited speculation.
Again it takes other's to get a statement from the owner, cheers for that Ian.
