17/18 VNL - Barrow 3 - 0 Woking

Against Halifax there were promising signs in the first half and we should have had a couple of goals but then the game petered out badly in the second period into a 0-0 stalemate. That might partly explain a very disappointing loss of around 400 on the attendance today. Well, they missed out didn't they if they reckon they had had enough after one home game? We showed a whole load of promise today. On the evidence of what I have seen so far we are a very different team this year (and not just in terms of personnel on the pitch). We are playing more football, showing more craft. Our style is far more pleasing on the eye than last season. We appear to have some decent footballers in the side. Let's just hope that as the season evolves we can also have the same steeliness that last year's team showed. Plenty to shout about today to those who have already decided to stay away.

I don't see what the problem is. The manager said we needed a squad of 22 players, we've got 21. There can't be any reason to go out and acquire a 22nd just for the sake of it, wait until the right one comes along. How many players do you want in your squad?
The discussion, anyway, wouldn't be between Casson and Cox, it would be Ogden and Cox.

A deserved first win of the season against a Woking side who could knock the ball around without being much of threat. Having seen the three games there are definite signs of improvement all over and we seem to have the nucleus of a decent side.
MOM was spot on and looking forward to Tues.

Really good day, Gomis was pivotal even better then shez when he played well for us, and I never thought I'd see that. One thing that is certain is that Cox obviously puts confidence in a player and gets their respect as a manager, let's hope the Casson's feel the same and back their man

Don't get this hounding of Cox over bringing players in - are RC and co trying to drive him away (on Hartlepools' early showing they may succeed if they are not careful).In the last two games we have had a player sat in the stand. We have four players at various stages of injury. Theoretically therefore if they all recovered at once we would have FIVE players sat in the stand. Does that say too small squad to you ? No doubt the usual suspects will jump on every word. Yes mr Cox would like to bring players in but so does every manager (listen to Curles RC interviews). I'm sure if we really got desparate Mr Casson would answer his phone. Have faith.
