Stewards and police
Diabolical stewarding and policing today.
Macclesfield fans were throwing objects, letting off flares, drinking in the terraces, running in the pitch, jumping over the wall repeatedly and too drunk to walk.
At one point two police officers walked past them as they were falling into the pitch and did nothing. They went to the burger bar instead.
Similar instances have resulted in Barrow fans being arrested, banned and vilified.

Re: Stewards and police
Agreed, I hope they paid to get in to watch the game today cos there certainly wasn't much policing or stewarding on display.
Re: Stewards and police
Apart from the ~10 year olds banging on the fence. That serious danger was quickly stamped out
Well, Clive, it's all about the two M's - movement and positioning.

They let them out at half-time were they ended up in the soccer bar full of Barrow, ended up glaring at each other but finish up talking to each other but it could have been so different, you can always rely on Barrow Stewards to do the wrong thing.

Re: Stewards and police
From where I was standing on the popular side, as far as I could see when the flare went off there was not a single movement from the police. If I am mistaken I apologise but this light touch with the football yobs is not what I pay my police council tax for. And if they are charged the courts only give them community service which is worn like a badge of honour.
Re: Stewards and police
Stewards and police were a joke. I was stood by the tunnel and when the flare went off I believe 2 stewards took the flare and removed it, from what I could see no one even spoke to those involved. When the 2 fans went onto the pitch the stewards helped them back over into the crowd and again nothing happened. While this happened 2 police officers stood in with the away fans were getting a brew/burger.
We spoke to a steward by the tunnel and pointed out that if that had been us either at home or away we would have been thrown out and given 3 year bans and then pointed out that should 'Holt come on and score a hatrick' the stewards had essentially condoned us all going on the pitch. The steward in question then told us that they didn't know what was going on over the other side (despite them all having radios) and used the words 'it's easier to keep them in the ground than kick them Out
After the game walking back and walked past a group of Macc fans chanting 'Barrows a racist town' then right in front of 3 coppers one started chanting "we all hate n****s' and again police did not even bat an eye.
Disgraceful. One rule for us and one for everyone else

Re: Stewards and police
I agree with what's been said .
What's going to happen when Wrexham come here ?our head steward should be taken to task over today. we're just lucky there wasn't a serious incident the more you let people off with, the braver they get.
Disgraceful

Re: Stewards and police
How do they get flares and alcohol into the ground. Should they not be searched or are stewards not allowed to do that... or was it all in that drum?

Re: Stewards and police
They've done it before today.
I doubt any were searched?
The drum came in highly concealed.
Flares.... offensive chanting.....never saw any ejected.
The police stood there doing nothing...
A very weak and useless effort by all concerned.
The board need to look at this before we have a really serious event.

Re: Stewards and police
The thing that annoys me isn't the behaviour of the Macc fans, although they are a weird, precious bunch with a few bells
1) They start in towm. -Evening Mail makes it out 50-50- A disgrace of a publications and anti Barrow fans. No doubt the reporters who hide on here will be on to defend it
2) Policing utterly different depending on whether you are home or away fans.
I found the burger bar run while the stewards were trying to contain things hilarious while the other policemen with the beard and mate videoed it all. Is this 'policing the behaviour'? Pathetic
Don't blame stewards today

Re: Stewards and police
Found it rather bizarre that the Macc 'fans' were singing about the Barrow fans at the fence that they were going home to shag their sisters. The Barrow fans at the barrier were kids around 12 years old or so.
Says an awful lot about your average Macc fan!
