The future
The future
I personally think it’s been clear for a while that Casson senior has realised his hair brained idea of buying a football club wasn’t the best he’d ever had - maybe he should of just waited for us to go bust and then bought the land (which I personally think was the motivation all along) very cheaply if available.
So what happens next when he finally announces he’s had enough - who will be the next saviour if anyone? Hornbys ? The keens again? Or will that be it?
What are people’s genuine thoughts on our future? Do you think we will stay up or be relegated?
Not interested if you agree or disagree with my opinion but I cannot see us avoiding relegation unless we survive through another clubs financial downfall

Re: The future
The word legacy was banded about when PC took over, so what is his legacy so far? We debt free, New floodlights, And a pitch that can't deal with rain! Anything else??
Just my opinion
Re: The future
I genuinely believe its the beginning of the slide to the knackers yard to join Lancaster etc which is where we were heading but for the brief interlude in between brought about by PC.tictactoe wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 8:08 pm I personally think it’s been clear for a while that Casson senior has realised his hair brained idea of buying a football club wasn’t the best he’d ever had - maybe he should of just waited for us to go bust and then bought the land (which I personally think was the motivation all along) very cheaply if available.

The club is at the start of its death throes and very shortly there will be the usual cries for ground sharing as being the savior of both clubs.
Re: The future
My thoughts on the future? Regardless of relegation or staying up, the club needs a strategy / plan to develop and become less reliant on the owner. I truly believe that there is an appetite for the football club, but all things needs to line up at the same time to succeed. That’s the hard bit.

Re: The future
PC needs to bring people in who know how to run a football club on a day to day basis, if we are to grow as a club as I have no faith in AC to do the job & I don't mean cassons friends or other family members, independent people with proper knowledge of club management
Just my opinion
Re: The future
So what’s does it take to run a club like Barrow? Geographically isolated, we struggle to attract players, but counter to that, we have a fanbase out there and on its day, Holker Street can be a passionate cauldron that’s can lift the home side as the twelfth man. That has been absent for too long. As far back as Daz and Dave since I last truly experienced that atmosphere at Holker Street. We need that back. Off the pitch, a tangible plan for sustainability is a must. I would welcome discussion on how fan groups can reinvest Back into the club through a share option scheme. From investing from as little as £1 to 4 figure lifetime commitments. Maybe some kind of Barrow AFC premium Bond- with a monthly prize draw. There needs to be more opportunities to reinvest back into the club. Casson cannot do this alone.

Re: The future
Crowds dwindle and the get-out becomes that he never received the full support of the townsfolk, and there is some truth in that.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Re: The future
Jonty I suggested that months ago and people ridiculed it,granted probably more cos it was me that suggested it. If we could get 500 to join and pay £20 a month with some returns through a prize draw, we could then raise thousands. WG mentions the pulic support, the fact is casson hasn’t had it, this town loves a big day out down the A590, getting them to holker st on a regular , is virtually impossible. Conference north is our sustainable level and we have to accept it.Jonty wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 8:57 pm So what’s does it take to run a club like Barrow? Re: The future
I think the fans did turn up early on it seemed to go downhill when Cox brought his brand of non football yes we were winning but it wasn't entertainment.
You have to give people more now and it didn't help with all the broken promises etc.
To get people back on board we need to play decent football and a vision of where the club is going etc bridges have to be built and our owners have to come clean and let us know is conference north is as good as it's going to be I personally could live with that for a few years all we want is some honesty

Re: The future
Jo, fans think Conf North is our level because they are conditioned to think this way. It’s years of struggle entrenched in the mindset. Instead of aimiing up we look back down. Look at Fleetwood, Morecambe, Accrington, these clubs have no bigger potential than Barrow, but they built a successful team and planned for success, that is the difference, we need a plan and the right people to support Casson in delivering it. The fans make up that support as well as local business. Every bit of wall and roof space in that ground should have a board on it. Every game should be packed out with hospitality- a mix of ordinary fans and corporate guests- cater for all. Every player, game and match all should be sponsored. Get the prices right and get the club facilities operating 52 weeks year.Jo am back wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 9:24 pmJonty I suggested that months ago and people ridiculed it,granted probably more cos it was me that suggested it. The owners have to come clean and let us know the conference North is as good as it’s going to get? Where’s the ambition there? Casson did not buy the club to become a Conference North Club, He bought the club with the aim of getting us back into the football league, the fact is that is not an easy task. We knew that, he soon learned that. So you either throw the towel in or you raise the commitment levels. All round- fans and the town as well. Everyone needs to have that vision and ambition.blue nige wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 9:35 pm I think the fans did turn up early on it seemed to go downhill when Cox brought his brand of non football yes we were winning but it wasn't entertainment.

If Paul casson wanted us in the football league then how did he expect to do that with magic beans?Jonty wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 9:51 pmThe owners have to come clean and let us know the conference North is as good as it’s going to get? We have neither finance or any kind of structure to get anywhere near the football league.
Re: The future
Up until a few months ago I honestly felt like it was all down to mis management, wrong appointments, people taking libertys with the Cassons lack of footballing experience, but as the season has progressed I really think there is some sort of underlying issue. The silence speaks massive volumes and i really can't see anything positive coming from the near future, think we'll go down, think the cassons will leave or even stay and continue to run it into the ground. Think pennock will be gone and I'd say 80% of this squad youll never see again (really a bad thing? ) so yeah, futures looking good really.
Re: The futuree
Nobody would argue that we don’t have the structure to get into the football league. Nowhere near it. However we need to work towards that following successful models- ie Accrington, Fleetwood, Morecambe. I don’t think they are bigger than Barrow in terms of potential. A plan helpsblue nige wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 9:58 pmIf Paul casson wanted us in the football league then how did he expect to do that with magic beans?Jonty wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 9:51 pm
