Barrow v Ebbsfleet match thead
Re: Barrow v Ebbsfleet match thead
Drums should be banned at football matches. We've had chances but Ebbsfleet have thrown themselves at everything in front of their goal.

Thankful that Woking lost, but Torquay won and are now 4 points behind. We have to beat Guiseley on Tuesday.

Luck left us today. Not a bad performance at all just didn’t have the luck to find the gap and not an Ebbsfleet body. Onto the next, still in our hands.

Ebbsfleet reminded me a bit of us last season; a big strong organised side rather than a good side
Just needed that bit of luck and one of the goal line scrambles to drop in. Massive game Tuesday now, hopefully we don’t revert to playing crap against crap teams

Beaten by a side who defended very well. Organised and threw themselves at everything. Only good thing today was the Woking result. Torquay not throwing in the towel yet either.

Of the remaining games Guiseley and Chester look winnable - while Woking only have 2 games left and an inferior goal difference ( although Guiseley is also on their 'to play' list. ).
It's still in our hands if we get going.

First match : Barrow v Northampton Town : Sat. 24th Sept. 1960 ... won 1-0... ( which was nice )

Aside from the luck of seeing two easy Ebbsfleet chances roll back off the post, of course...John_Bucks wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:07 pm Luck left us today. Not a bad performance at all just didn’t have the luck to find the gap and not an Ebbsfleet body. Onto the next, still in our hands.

Agree about their style of play and Barrow under Cox. They were strong and well organised and got the ball forward as soon as possible a long way up the field.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:13 pm Ebbsfleet reminded me a bit of us last season; a big strong organised side rather than a good side

Quite a good game. Typical national league in many ways. I think Pennock isn’t bad, but we lack 3 or 4 top players to be able to compete adequately. The team gave their all though.
Without Dan Jones throws we wouldn’t threaten anyone much.
Not over until fat lady time, but going to be quite a fortnight.
Re: Barrow v Ebbsfleet match thead
Agree with the two comments above. One big difference between the two teams was the centre halves; they had two big, strong ones who never missed a header, put theior bodies in the way - we have Cook and Diarra who battle but look indecisive and unconvincing at times.
Can't fault the lack of effort but all over the park really we aren't good enough, we can't string more than 2/3 passes together, some of the first touches are terrible and without the long throws of Jones as hitthebar says above, we offer nothing as an attacking threat aside from the odd set play. I thought the substitutions were left far too late considering we were 1-0 down, maybe a sign of how highly the manager rates Jordan White...
Yes their keeper made 2/3 good saves but they hit the post three times so you couldn't say luck was against us and I was amazed walking out of the ground hearing some people say the ref was this and that, gave us nothing...thought he was pretty quiet and went unnoticed which is a good thing.
We just aren't good enough it's been clear to see all season and yet apart from a couple of loan players we've not done anything to address it. There's still hope but you'd have to be very optimistic to back us to survive now.
