Re: Keswick to Barrow
Good luck to everyone doing the walk.
The first 39 miles and 1,759 yards are the worst part. After that, it's a piece of pis .... er, cake.

Well done lads, great effort.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Keswick to Barrow
Thanks for all your messages.
Another great day yesterday, thanks to Daz(ruins), Ste story and Chelsea. Gregg Freya Markmc and Stu for thier excellent support during the day. It’s really appreciated by all of us.
Star of the day was Chris Altree doing it in 7hrs 6 minutes and running 20 miles of it with a stone stuck in his foot that had pierced through his trainer.
Good money raised so far and sponsorship is still open for a while.
Thanks to JF Hornby for the sponsorship and to Phil Collier for the shirts to auction. Thanks to Holkerbird for sponsorship and support, waiting an hour for Si he's on abbey rd Nichols.
Thanks to everyone
See you all next year

Re: Keswick to Barrow
Lovely stuff.
Thanks to Al for organising and putting up with a million questions “have we got sun cream? Can i leave a bag at Coniston” etc etc. Patience of a saint.
Thanks to all the support crew - Fregg, Winston, Other Boyle, McMark, Ste, Chelsea and Stu.
Thank you to organisers, sponsors, old ladies sat on deckchairs giving a cheer, young bairns handing out home made cakes and everyone else along the way.

Re: Keswick to Barrow
Echo those sentiments
Brilliant day and the donations keep coming in.
Excellent work from everyone from the walkers right down to the support.
My trainers however are very much staying in the bin

Re: Keswick to Barrow
Just to reiterate the thanks to al for organising it all. Also to Stu freya Gregg and Mark at lowick for spurring me on when I was on my last legs. And to ste at coniston (even if he wouldn't massage my sore groin) and also Daz for the double support.
Never say never but it may be a while before I do it again....

Re: Keswick to Barrow
Echo all that- really enjoyed it, great to do something with folk I spend a lot of time with following the Barrow too. Enjoyed eating my own body weight in snacks yesterday
Definitely will do the c2B again, never thought I would manage it as not the fittest (!) but a bit of training and the company made it.

Re: Keswick to Barrow
Echo what everyone has said again - it really was a great day and Al should take great plaudits for organising us all. The support team were immense and really make a difference to keep you going. Our walkers/runners for K2B and C2B were all immense and everyone gave encouragement and help on the day, in the lead up and afterwards.
Anyone who knows me well knows I am not really built for walking that far so to finish the K2B felt great especially in just a shade over 11 hours which was a good deal quicker than expected. It looks like we have raised a good sum of money too. It isn't too late to sponsor us though so just pick anyone from the start list and throw some money on.
I can't see myself doing the K2B again but might be persuaded to do the C2B at some point and I also wouldn't mind being on the support crew at a future walk. For those who might fancy it next time, give it a go. It is hard, painful but very rewarding.

It seemed like it SI. I was frozen. That wind was a Tuesday night game one and I didn't have a coat.Si_Nichols wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 9:03 pmI didn't take that long along Abbey Rd did I? Seeing Adam actually running down to the finishing line was a sight to behold and it was an honour to stoop down and fasten his laces for him later on. Matt Dodd shot past us so quickly I almost missed him. The Usain Bolt of marathons. Some tired but happy lads and lasses. Proud of every one of you. Walkers, runners and support team.
See you all next year.
