Does your opinion on any subject change when the evidence suggests otherwise or do you just keep banging the drum louder and louder to try and drown out the facts?

Asking for the forum members🧐
Forget the biggest achievement a boiler and the toilet block being knocked down.
He made a commitment.
I will ask you
Has he built the stadium promised?
What Commercial Structure has he put in place after deciding we have to be self sufficient.
Are we going to get into the football league under the 5 year plan?
The US tax payer has contributed alot is the 4 million after tax relief?
Why send a boy to do a man's job,who 2 weeks ago said Ady was staying and had the full backing ,a clear lie.
A few on here keep turning a blind eye to what's going on
Has he been transparent in all his dealings?
Ask the staff that have been dismissed .
He chose to take Barrow on and now it's like a Italian tank were the only gear us reverse.
He is not a Stephen Vaughan but he is going to leave us in as bad a situation.
Even if he had a meet the fans could you take him at his word he makes Donald Trump look sincere.
But it's the Barrow public's fault.
So yep the drum is going to be banged. till it's resolved and if I upset a few of his mates tough
You don’t upset anyone, You just annoy some with your inane ramblings.

You are aware that deals are done, then get ripped up when the parties have a change of mind, Your saying Casson is a liar because Ady left the building, Yet Ady said himself that it was a MUTRAL AGREEMENT, So Ady & PC are lying are they? At the time that statement was made he was still with us & he told the RC listeners that as he was contacting the players individually etc, But things changed so they parted ways.

The Commercial team have been announced & you accuse the club of doing nothing well that’s another thing you are wrong on.....So when you Post should Several fans bring this up EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU POST & CALL YOU A LIAR...That would be ridiculous wouldn’t it....But it’s exactly what you Do time & time again, Think about it will you....Yes PC promised things & didn’t deliver, Everyone Is fully aware & don’t need reminding repeatedly.
It’s OBVIOUS that PC put too much faith in Cox & his team & a few self servicing agents & it’s cost him a small fortune & we got a big fat zero in return & escaped relegation purely because Woking lost to Dover after dominating that game for 70 mins and hitting the woodwork a few times.
Our players or wage thieves were on contracts so getting rid takes time & we are slowing getting shot of very expensive under achievers & now PC is changing tact from costly squad of long distance travelers who cost a small fortune in lodging & travel expenses & now rightly imo going for mainly Northern based players & probably more from the leagues below who have something to prove in the game & a core of higher caliber lads while replacing those who cared little but cost a fortune but you again see it as the sky is falling & they (The Casson) are running away!!!

Will you come on here & offer your apologies if they are still here in 12 months time?

I will appoligize to you if Houses are on the centre circle in 12 months time...Deal?

Ogden was in charge of signings, Cox was the manager. Easy to blame our 3rd most recent manager for current issues though.
Phantom scouting trips can't have helped the club finances though.
Exactly & to answer THK Yes Cox was the Manager but it looks to many that Casson put more faith in him to educate him in the way Football works in General & was hoodwinked, Youvonly have to see how Cox destroyed Guiseley immediately after very nearly destroying us to understand who the dodgy character is in the piece.

I hope next season I am slagged off because I am wrong nothing would give me greater pleasure because it means Barrow have not only survived but have a structure

The Ady statement was stupid .It was stated that Ady knew about leaving before the Chester game.
Andrew Casson stated AFTER this game that he had talks and Ady was staying,is that a lapse of memory

I did not want the owner to loose 4 million but that was purely down to him, being less diligent than he is in his other business
A football club at Barrows level is never going to break even.

Let's hope realistic targets have been put in place for the Commercial Team.

After 4 years as a brand Barrow AFC has become a tarnished club,if you look at the bad management that lead to a loss of 4 Managers in a year,CEO , Commercial Manager these are not a act of God but incompetence.

I do not compare Barrow to any other club such as Fylde as I am only interested in Barrow
Yep so I will apologie but there has to be some improvements.

That’s a reasonably good post from you & as for the tarnished bit it happens at all levels every single season, In Business it get buried & often where possible in sports but as it’s public life it’s often in the full glaze but the Casson are not at fault 100% of the time, They have made shed loads of mistakes, (don’t we all) It’s the way you bounce back and learn from them that’s more important IMO Let’s hope we don’t repeat them as often and the better things outweighs the negative stuff.

I read a lot on here about the issues your club had with the Speedway in the early 70's... the corner flag area issue is one which particularly astounds me when I read it....!!

Serious question, how did it work in the football with "boards" on the corner flag areas ?? Any pictures of that out of interest?

Read this with interest over the weekend. A club in Ireland had Banger Racing. On their PITCH...... not through their choice though....

And nearly, ultimately cost you your NPL place?

I'd love to see some pictures of the corner flags if there's any around. Seen the pictures of the bikes going past the (old) Main Stand of course on here.

Must have been a nightmare.....

The state of the pitch ,ironically us beating Hartlepool and Len Ashurst their Manager complaining about it publicly and Newcastle getting beat by Hereford cost us our League Status.

Christ not this again.

You're correct Pedro but there were other serious factors. Firstly the club was virtually bankrupt even by the standards of the day and was surviving week-to-week. I seriously doubt that the speedway would ever have come to pass at HS had the club not been absolutely desperate for money. Further the pitch size was used as a technicality to imply a breach of the Football League rules at the time but there were many other things that the Football League could've taken exception to. Facilities were minimal (I remember Malcolm Macdonald once describing the disgusting state of our away dressing room when he was at Luton), one stand lay in rubble and health and safety issues were pretty well non-existant. One other factor about football at that time. I think this was also the start of the period when the football authorities were beginning to think seriously about standards of ground and financial management as critical factors in the Football League. In many ways therefore it was the worst time to pursue the idea of the speedway if the objective was to retain Football League status.

I've never held it against Hereford. If it had not been them it would've been another club. Its a bit like blaming the wind for blowing down a dead tree.

"There's enough material here for an entire conference"

My memory may be faulty but I understand those words were apparently uttered by a fly exiting an open window at a board meeting at Holker Street in early 1972 when plans to destroy the pitch, plans to destroy the ground, and expectations that we would achieve re-election to the Football League should we finish in the bottom four were all aired around the table. Destroy the ground we did. Destroy the pitch we did. Finish in the bottom four we did. Re-elected we did not! Hartlepool's Len Ashurst was one man who rightly spoke out about the disgraceful conditions.

01524 . . . . . I don't have any photos of the corners, well only those in my mind's eye . . . . . and they still cause me to wake up screaming in the middle of the night, 46 years later.

Yes, Hereford committed the crime of achieving an historic FA Cup win over Newcastle that played a big part in sealing our fate for sure. We never managed to carry out the gross misdemeanour of taking a top-flight scalp in all our history (though a 2-2 draw against Southampton came mighty close). I wish I could say we had such a terrible deed recorded in our archives. You are absolutely right, Suffolk Blue, Hereford did nothing wrong! Our club did all the wrongs.

We deserved to go out of the Football League. Anybody who was around at that time and had even an ounce of impartiality could see it. You had to see the ground to believe it. Had Hitler survived after all, and was he on the comeback trail, getting parts of Barrow he'd missed first time around? You had to see the pitch to believe it, with its quaint wooden floorboard corners, decorated with loose tufts of turf on top, and a playing surface with more grit than Robin Hulbert in red-mist-mode. Hereford probably did us a favour, for if we had been re-elected to the FL we would have been expunged the following season. Not getting re-elected was painful and humiliating but there could surely be no worse fate than being expunged.

Don't believe it? Well, the NPL that we dropped into, with the merest fraction of status that the Football League holds, were desperate to see the back of us. There was a re-election system in place for the bottom two in the NPL in those days and in 73-74 all the prevailing noises told us that we would be dumped if we finished in the bottom two. Manager Peter Kane performed arguably the greatest miracle in our history that season and should be lauded to the skies for driving us to a third from bottom finish, thus averting probable extinction for the club. In the second half of that season, with a truly ramshackle playing squad that were nonetheless spirited, and from a pitiful position, we somehow scraped 50% of our points in the second half of the season (21 points from the last 21 games, two points for a win in those days) and scrambled to the safety of third from bottom. I can tell you it was a truly astonishing achievement from a truly poor team! Praise to them all though for their guts. They surely saved the club and it should not be forgotten.

As usual PJ, thanks for providing the definitive response and recollection.

Even though I was only a twelve year old ball boy/programme seller at the club at the time, I can still recollect the sense of impending doom and chaos of that time. Its like a smell that stays with you and every time I go back to HS there's still a little part of you that can sense it. It was just god awful bad. And as you say for better or worse it all came from inside the club. In 1972 losing your football status carried with it a stigma that is missing today within the pyramid system. There was no way back, no parachute payments, no lines of credit waiting to be tapped and no millionnaire businessmen waiting in the wings. The journey back, painful as it was is probably more remarkable than the decent into the abyss.

Wow thank god for that! This forum was beginning to get far too positive over the last few weeks. I for one was feeling more than a little uneasy with the new manager and him building a squad and the recent good friendly results. Genuinely, thank you for distracting everyone from the positive stuff going on recently and injecting a bit of much needed negativity.

Just what the club needs right now. The happy clapper idiots, walking around without abject misery in their lives can [SwearFilter] off! You’re not welcome here.

When Barrow lost their league position I remember being told by one of the board that no league wanted to take us. In the end the NPL did at the expense of another club who had applied to join them. There is a structure now for teams going out of the league. There wasn't in 1972.
